Kicker works...but not for everyone. To make the statement that the SoloX would be louder than any other "big dog" sub is ignorant...

I know of one instance where an L7 got spanked by a lesser sub...both had Ideal power and box, and were tested TONS of times, because the owner wanted the L7s to be louder...But they weren't.

No but an un reinforced SoloX cone will crack VERY easily under higher pressure applications...HENCE the reason kicker had to redesign the cones. And the S.P.A.I.R.S still aren't available last time I checked. I would love to try some SoloX 10s in my competition vehicle...but I'm not going to buy a sub knowing that recones aren't available right now.
Where as I can call up RE and get a recone in less than 3 days...but It takes some serious abuse to wreck My MT's. (took 5kw and Free air to get the sub to fail mechanically.)

To the OP Kicker makes good quality stuff. I have many friends that run them in their SPL vehicles that have set world records and won world titles. Kickers name is sononymous with winning. james can get the new cones, lol. and your right, most knowledgable competitors would indeed reinforce the back of the solo cones. but again, i know many mt's spit their soft parts with half the power i've seen solo's take.

also, i'll stand by my words. other then a 15 (no solo x 15), i'll take teh solo x, you take your mt, or btl. my money is one the solo x. i might not win everytime, but i'll win the majority.

adn the L7 vs the btl? sorry, the btl is their full on spl sub, so the correct matchup would be btl vs solo x. i liek scott, and Fi is proving itself. but it stil doesn't have the track record of the kickers. i'll take the solo x.

and i've seen L7s lose to lesser subs. and beat superior subs. but again, 9 outa 10 times, i'll take the kicker. teh quality is there, teh proven output is there, and teh proven support is there.

btw, the reason they didn't have the SPAIRS for so long is a vendor issue. wrong logo or something.

don't they? i'm sure that dd, fi and re can all claim the same thing. and i'm not saying that kicker is the end all be all of subwoofers. but when someone asks a question like the OP, and someone gets on here and says kicker is crap, then that someone needs their brain flushed.

yes, kicker is mainstreme. yes, kicker can be had at best buy. but kicker has dominated the spl scene for many years. kicker has been a very major player in the street scene for more then that. they've always been about quality and quality output and will more then hold their own against any internet brand. now tell me i'm wrong and prove it.

and yes, even if it means i lose, i'll take kicker when shit hits the fan. they've proven themselves enough to earn that. i know one hardcore guy that won't switch from solo xs for that exact reason. kicker has supported him way to much to warrant him switching. and he's competitve. it's never a sub that lets him down. eagle picher did, memphis 4kws did, hifonics maxximus did, his enclosures did, and hell, even his alpine did. but never the subs.

that's why i'll stand behind my words.
