Are bass blockers good?

I got 4" Pioneer speakers in my front doors;should I put in bass blockers to improve my bass response?

I just discovered that I can't upgrade my 4" speakers to 6.5" speakers because my door panel openings are too small. So, I'm just looking on how to get the best sound out of 4" speakers. Thanks again!

Bass blockers are used so certain frequencies are NOT sent to that speaker. They are used for speakers that either cannot reproduce that sound or will blow if they try. They are used on small speakers and ones used for mainly treble. I would probably reccommend them for your 4" speakers because they are not designed for lots of bass.

Hehe I made my own high pass c/o's with the right calculator and conputer electronics class. I have access to whole range of stuff that can be used to make both active and passive c/o's hehe.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Wow, that contributes greatly to this thread.

Bass blockers can be a good thing if you just want a cheap High Pass Filter, but they're not perfect. I've heard of some people saying they actually increase the bass, though I cannot say I've seen the proof. I have a pair on my 3.5" speakers.

Well ok then ill contribute something that is usefull.

Yes they are good. Like I said I just took and found the right size capacitor which is all that bass blockers are and installed them in the speaker wire. I currently have about 700 hz high pass on my front speakers and 1500 highpass on my rear tweeters. Dont ask about my speakers its a really ghetto setup:rolleyes: . But anyway, I can turn my volume up as far as I want and my speakers wont even distort. The h/u amp clips before the speakers themselves take too much power and start to distort from it. I'd say get some for you speakers. They will allow you turn your stuff up louder like mine cuz the speakers wont be gettin the powerful low notes. Now was that useful? lol;)
