i am not sure how much the motor and the soft parts play into the SQ of a driver. I know that most tc-9 subs (ED A series, RL-P, Eclipse Aluminum) are very Sq, but i have seen a couple of random brands, recones, etc that use TC-9 motors and are very cheap, like the ones teamearthquakecelica was selling earlier. ARe these all destined to be SQ? Thanks!

who said the rl-p was destined to be a sq sub? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif i got great spl out of mine when i tried for spl. it all depends on install.

The ones Teamquakecelica had are HCCA proto's, and should have a Fs around 35hz. The double spiders also give it a pretty stiff suspension, so I would guess there are some that aren't really built for sq.

hmm.... so the ones he had weren't as much SQ?

SQ is pretty much relative. I think the sound quality of the 12 I got from him is great, but I don't think the purpose of these is purely sq. HCCA's are advertised as SPL woofers, but IMO anything with a TC9 is bound to sound good.
