are 45's necessary in an aero box?

just as the title states, will you see an gain using 45's in a box with aero ports?

if so, which corners will i put them in? its not like a slot port where you would put the 45's in the corners that would direct the airflow towards the slot port.

just something i was wondering as i just built my first aero box

Since the port is the aero, the 45 will just be seeing air pressure, not actual airflow past it like when it is part of a slot port. So no, all it would do is take up internal volume and add very little bracing. Better off with a rod or dowel somewhere in the middle of the box if you're looking for bracing.

It depends on their placement. A lot of people waste time putting them in every corner. I've done Termlab testing with them before, and whether they work or not is box dependent.

It may not have been the 45's though that caused the dB gain. It could've been the reduction in volume that the 45's caused or the fact that the reduction in volume raised the tuning and they scored 1 dB higher on 45 Hz instead of 44 Hz or whatever. You get the point thought, it's almost all hit'n'miss.
