Are 2 subwoofers better than 1? Can i fit a 18" subwoofer?

My cousin has 2 kicker CVR 12's (600 RMS each) in a ported box (pre fab that came with the subs) in some bose 3500 amp. even though i told him thats not true power which has DECENT bass in his civic.

My question is would 1 AudioQue HDC 15" which is rated at 1000 RMS Continuous power and 2000 Peak power. If i get this i would run it on an AQ1200D amplifier. So basically all that power into ONE 15.

Would my 1 15 be louder than his 2 12s? And is the big three necessary? i would be driving probably in a coupe or hatchback (still deciding) can't get a suv. and i would have a custom box big enough to fill only the whole trunk with the seats down. If someone can help me build a ported 15" box that would be appreciated as well.

Or i could get 2 15s from audioque from their "lower" class. SDC 2.5 15's 600 rms each and run it on Audioque 1200D

Or 1 AudioQue HDC-18" on 2200D if it can fit?

on the meter no to the ear maybe just depends on the enclosure and some good power will. as far as the big three it wouldn't hurt at all you will have to if your going to be running big amp/s though

Well what do you think i should get? 1 audioque HDC 15 1000 RMS 2000 peak. running on a AQ1200 or AQ2200

2 audioque sdc 2.5 15s 600rms 1200 peak on the AQ1200 Or i can run it on the AQ2200

Which would be the louder of the 2?

depends on how much room you have and what the subs want tbut for sure you can fit 1 15 in there dont think you can do two
My cousins 2 12s fit in there with room to spare well hopefully i can fit 2 15s. I'm guessing 18" is out of the question?

To many variables to suggest what may be louder.
What variables? (Sorry i'm new to all this)

Enclosure, power, installation, exact vehicle. Those are just a few of course.

i'm possibly getting the same car as him. but his enclosure is pre fab mine would be custom (hopefully built right) and power well whats better 2 15s running on their suggested RMS or 1 high quality 15 running on full potential?

well maybe in a few months when i actually purchase a vehicle lol. Do you think you guys would be able to build a box for an 18" that would fit in the trunk of a newer model (06-011) Civic coupe? Or would the space be too small for it to even sound as good as it should be?

If that wouldn't work out will a 15 or maybe 2 15's be do-able?

A single 15 might be do able. I would need to know the specs to let you know what would work with in the space limitations. I know 2 15s is out of the question that is over 8ft3 net and a single 18 is around 6ft3 net. So I don't see those being options. A single 15 around 4-4.5 might work though. It would really just depend on what space is available though.

If every other variable is exactly the same, greater cone area would win. If you had your 2 systems in the same vehicle.... yours might win to the ear. I'm sure it would sound better, cus the pre-fab ported is a total fail. As well as the subs and amp. Honestly. the HDC could take more than 1200w, I'd get the AQ2200 and turn the gains down a bit. There's a lot of different set-ups you could go with. I'd recommend reading around here for another month before seriously considering anything.

Definitely get a big 3 upgrade done. You could do that now just for something to do, as you research more about ideal set-ups.

And pro-rabbit does great enclosure work //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Well on the Honda website (probably going to get a civic anyway) the cargo space is 11.7 cubic feet. I can use the whole trunk space just not go into the cabin. Because i might occasionally have to drive friends around.
