ARC and Zapco -- what's their story?

Heck, more trivia time. Who designed some of Clarion's most popular amps (so popular in fact that the Clarion USA design was used in other parts of the world which is pretty unusual)? Robert Zeff.

You can't ask a question, then answer it yourself!

I would have gotten that one right too.......... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

What popular "high end" amplifier company used the same boards as those popular Clarion's? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/up2something.gif.dd110ecf3ae4b76050d87598f2f8de7c.gif

I think its safer to say that the designs belong to the designer. Nikola Engineering designs for UBUY Taiwanese corporation as well.

Also the word 'some' should be used, there are certainly Arc amps(xxk4150) for example) that dont share anything with Clarion nor UBUY designs.

Then there's the 1500D class T, while it shares a similar Clarion version, does not a UBUY design. Its about what designs a company is interested in.

Wanna see who else Nikola designs for? Click on the Vibe link, Cerwin Vega...check their amps...see specs, power configs, xover values...

Of course the differences...each manufacturer wants given tolerances/goals out of their own product.

What they have in common the most? Reliability and great design.

For some that would like to know some of the "in's"

I know they were both designed by Nikola/UBUY......but they did use the same boards in both amplifiers (multiple amplifiers in their lineup), and it's funny watching the Arc guys get their panties in a bunch whenever it's mentioned //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif Especially since in the beginning there was fierce denials from the Arc supporters that they couldn't possibly use the same boards.......

It doesn't bother me, I knew about it before i even bought their amps ..... all that matters is that their reliability is PROVEN. How many posts have you come across over the years with issues with Arc amp reliability? If there was an issue anywhere in those regards the company wouldn't be where its at today.

If anything it was a great move for them to establish themselves with a solid amplifier lineup back in the late 90's. It has allowed them to build a great reputation, give great customer service. And as a result from this build up they will now be releasing more proprietary product and new designs that promise to be better.

I have a Ubuy business card that has an Arc Audio logo on it (as well as other manufacturers) floating around. Such a weird denial.
