AQhdc318 + AQ2200 in my 01 Jeep Grand Cherokee

ive heard to set it about 80% of the box's fq so ya about 28-30 i have a 35hz box and mines set right in the middle at 30ish. i have a much crappier sub though:( but it seemed to help on put on

lol

ill definitely get my first real vid up soon-they all been test vids pretty much

but i dont understand...with me and people with 35hz+ tuned boxes...

with ssf at about 30hz+

how are we suppose to listen to songs like put on if our ssf it at around 35hz...

seems as if a ssf is wayyyyyyyyyyy to advanced for you.....you should send your amp to me and the wiring...then i will send my amp and wiring to you...it's already set up so all you have to do is plug and play! come on...i know you wanna get some flex on in that cherokee

my whole system is tuned fine...just that im not a pro when it comes to the ssf setting.

im just curious how it works

i just changed it to 28hz and its gonna stay there lol

and hellya i wanna see more flex

...Today i just noticed my lights dim...probably cuz its the first time i ever put it at full tilt at night and payed attention to my lights.

There are a few things you're not understanding.

1) The port on an enclosure will reduce cone movement at, around, and below the tuning frequency for about 1/2 an octave above and below. For 35hz, 1/2 an octave is:

35/4 = +8.75hz

So the subsonic is best set at about 35-8.75= ~26hz. But in reality, your sub may be fine to have the subsonic set lower. Below tuning, the sub is relying on its own suspension for cone control. Some subs have a beefy enough suspension to handle loads of power and some do not. It really depends on the design. The HDCs have quite a stiff suspension and can usually handle playing below tuning to a point.

2) Just because the filter is set to 26hz does not meant that the sub will not play anything below 26hz. It's not magical and can't instantly get rid of any frequency below that point. Instead, it's a roll off of power and so the sub will still play those frequencies but they will be at a lower volume level.

Your problem sounds like it might be the suspension popping problem that many HDCs seem to have and that AQ blames on an improper break in. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

(i know some might freak out when i ask this but if you dont want to answer just dont)

and a couple say "JUST BUILD IT" but its not that easy lol I just wanna know what your opinions are.

Would you recommend me building a new box tuned to 40hz?

Ill post up the design if you guys wanna see it

No. That is a bad box design, I don't care if Jesus designed it. The port wall extends too far back into the enclosure and your port area changes at the inside of the enclosure. The port will not be as effective as it could be and you could easily get port noise from it.

I think you would be better off going with a different design. I could crank something out for you if you would like.
