AQ1200D Clipping light on ALOT!

I've never messed with AQ amps, but clip lights in general are typically not very sensitive..

If the light is comming on at the cusp of a decent volume level then something is wrong with your installation; and it sounds to me like your amp is starving for current.

For an amp that size I would want to use 2awg wire minumum, 1/0 would be better.. also make sure all of your connections are 100% solid.. (including your fuse)

I have tested the AQ2200D with an o-scope and it is sensitive which is good.

Amps will clip sooner if the voltage is low or there is unnecessary resistance in the power line but an amp will always clip if you try and get more out of it than what it can do at a particular ohm level.

I will say that these amps are rated dead on what's stated in the manual. If an amp is clipping at a certain ohm level before it reaches it's rated power then there is a problem.

You will need a DMM and ammeter to find this out.

IF you had low voltage, that's easy to find out, just hookup DMM to amp's power and ground terminals while it's clipping.

1/0 wiring will help.

play with the remote gain until you get slight blinking, solid red is bad.

as you turn up the amp the output will plateau at certain point. if you increase the gain/volume past this point the increase in output is minimal at best. anything past this point is usually clipping. play around with a heavy bass music track and try to find that peak point at the beginning of the plateau and don't go above that point (this point will differ track to track). You'll start to notice the bass notes sound cleaner, lower distortion is always a plus.

hope this helps
