AP3K on a XXX15D2; 1 ohm or 4 ohm?

Like the title says; since I need 2,000 watts, maybe a smidge more should I run my Audiopipe 3000D at 1 ohm with the gains conservative or 4 ohms with the gains maxed out?

Never max out gains, never. Go 1ohm and set gains properly. Headroom is a good thing.

Since this amp is only rated at 2 ohms, will I risk damaging the amp at 1 ohm? Even though I will only be running at 1/2 power or less (assuming 4-5Kw at 1 ohm)

You always risk blowing an amp running it at a lower impedance. Why didn't you match them when you bought them?

no offense but that amp probably does around 2500clean @2ohms anyways if your lucky I would sell and get something else. Top notch sub but bottom of the barrel amp shouldn't go together imo

Why didn't you match them when you bought them?

I heard the amp will produce between 1800 and 2,000 watts at 4 ohm. And I have seen more than one instance of them being clamped and producing more than rated power.

Me either, also didn't recognized it as not being one ohm stable, but since the op asked, I advised the one ohm option.

I ran the amp 1 ohm stereo so I had to test per channel. I am honestly pretty amazed about it

20.4 ampsx 45.8 volts so 934.32 RMS per channel so 1868.64 RMS with imp rise 2.25 per channel so 4.5 ohms basically bridged and still did 1868 watts ... also to top it off!!! Dropping to 11.8 during test!!! It is rated 3000 at 2 ohm mono and 2000 at 4 ohm... And I got over 1900 at 4.5 at 11.5 so I am pretty sure this amp does rated and maybe then some. Now I am sure distortion rates were high but for what the amp costs. I did have a problem with it clipping out on my twice while driving on high freq but i am going to cut it some slack for now. I have a battery in the rear But I have cheap 4 gauge going from batt to amp and I am using a so so grounding point which I have the battery grounded there with 4 gauge and 4 gauge from the battery to the amp so perhaps it is getting some restriction.

If you are going to drive it like that, you to upgrade your wires to 1/0g so you don't burn shlt up, dude. And fuse the wire from batt to amp, and fix your damm grounds.

Basically I want to give it 2,000 watts, want to know which load would be the best.

I'm not too keen on ohm loads and whether this amp will be ok at 1 ohm even witht he gain 1/2 way up.

Real World AP3000D Tests !!!! - Car Audio Classifieds

So tonight we took a few hours and sdelthon and myself did some testing on one of my Audiopipe AP3000Ds, I havent clamped one of these for some time now, and wanted to do a nice lil test and result page about them!!

Car used sdelthons 94 T-Bird

Deck used Sony CDX-GT63UIW 2volt preouts

Stock ALT

1 run of 1/0 Audiopipe power

2 Treo SSX100Bs and a Treo SSX75B

1 Ap3000D

2 Treo SSPs 10s dual 2s reading slightly different, final ohm load before rise coming out at 3ohms

Ohm Load calculated after imp rise

So after 2 hrs of play time and a weak charging system the amp is still very strong, and if we could hold in that 14volt range at 2-2.5ohms we will be able to get all of 3kw+ like rated then some, so for $299shipped with warranty these are the best amps on the market for the money, and ill be running 4 of them!!!
