AP15001D - Does it REALLY do rated? Through a 100 amp fuse?

Ok so i bought one of those ap15001d amps off of ebay not long ago. It came with a big *** audiopipe fuse holder and 100 amp ANL fuse. The auction said "free gift, for the fuse holder" but i think those are actually included with the amps anyways since they have no internal fuses?

Anyways, i was wondering about the fuse size and watts. I hear that these ap15001d and 3k amps DO RATED. But CAN you get that power through a 100 amp fuse? I was thinking no, but i really dont know. I mean i see this shitty sony amp i have 1000 MAX and around 500 rms or so its got two 30 amp fuses. My rockford 250.2 rated at 250 rms has a 40 amp fuse. I know not all amps are the same, but it just doesnt seem right.

So.. Anyone got any input on the fuse size deal on these amps? And do you know if the fuse and holder comes with the amps from the factory?

I wouldnt worry about that, there obviously not going to give you the right fuse, just the cheapest that they can give you. My 4 gauge Knu wiring kit came with like a 80 amp fuse and you can run over 1000 watts thru this 4 gauge easy. Just pay attention to the amps fusing itself.

Iv never used one, but have read some good things on them. As far as the fuse, it was free. They aint gonna give u what u need in most case, after all it was a gift. Iv ordered stuff online and most the time the gifts are useless...
i take it you didnt like my noodz //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

They SAID it was a gift, but it fit right in the amps factory box and looked like it was supposed to come with the amp itself. I felt like they were just maybe SAYING it was a gift to try and get more buyers or some shit like that. I also feel like it was maybe supposed to come with the amp in the first place since the amp has NO internal fusing.

I dont really like the power inputs on this amp either, but i can live with it i guess. The amp was cheap for the power and since everyone said it does rated i went ahead and tried it out.. Id like to compare it wtih some similar rated amps tho and see how it stands up. Just by ear, not on meter or anything..

Its good for the 4 gauge wiring. The fuses on the amp are for the amp but the fuses on the wire is for the wire. I bet you won't pull over 100 amps on that power wire anyways.

And it sounds like you don't really have much experience so going by "your" ears may be bias depending on what you are leaning towards now.

There are NO FUSES ON THE AMP the amp needs to be externally fused. Like i said above. I know what an in line fuse holder is and what internal fuses are.

Which power wire are you even referring to? It sounds like your saying you know how my set up is, or not i dont really know what your trying to say.

That 100 amp fuse will be fine for you. You will not pull over 100 amps. I have an ap3000d and wired at 4 ohms and it only pulls about 110 amps of current on tones.

And don't worry about it not making the rated power because it will. Remember though that the rating is at 14.4 volts.

The only way that fuse would be in danger of blowing is blasting tones full volume, and it wouldn't happen instantly. IF it happened it probably wouldn't happen for several minutes.

But 1500w worth of music power -- 100A fuse is plenty.

takes 200% for more than 3 sec to blow a fuse. so would take 200amps for 3 seconds no problem or pull 150-160amps all the time. alot of ur amps are overfused because they know it is a selling ploy.

amp makes power and you wont blow a fuse i have installed a bunch of them...

OK thanks for the replies. So basically i shouldnt be worried about the actual power output of the amp and only having a 100 amp fuse?

And why would i want to change fuses if its not blowing? That would gain me absolutely nothing. Its never blown, i was just wondering about the fuse rating and power output.
