Well not really factory for my car but I bought it about a year and a half ago. It came out of a 04 WRX STI or whateva those cars are. It's got 6 disc cd changer built in and a cassette player OH BOY! I love the HU it's got it all (or all that I need) so I would hate to change it out! So if I keep it what are some of the headaches I'm gonna run into trying to hook up amps and speakers and such? Can it be done at all? Do I suffer sound quality? N E Hoot thought I'd get some opinions Thanks Much!!

The main problem with factory head units is that they're not designed to be expandable. You won't find RCA outputs on the back. To add amplifiers, you'll need to use a Line-out converter, which changes the speaker outputs into a low-level signal you can send to your amplifier. If you get a good quality LOC, there's no reason you can't build a nice sounding system from a factory head unit.

Or you can use a piece like a 3 Sixty.2 from Rockford.
What???? Sorry dude I'm old lol
Yes your correct I'm banking on the factory HU sounding nice once everything is boosted with amps. HeY I figure all I'm gonna be losing is the 20 or 30 bucks for the Scosche SLC4 Four-channel line output converter

Thanks for the suggestion ilvwhtgrls but 699.00 so I can use my 150.00 factory radio is abit much hehe. That is a nice piece of equipment none the less!! Hey I'll try the Scosche see what happens if I don't like it I'll just have to get a new HU and a CD changer cause I really like having 6 cds ready to go without having to dig under the seat for a container of cds! Thanks guys for the advice!
