Just wondering if anyone recommends q logic kick panel enclosures for my front stage. The only problem I see with them is that they can't take 6.5" woofers, only up to 6.125".
Doors are the worst possible locations for any speaker.Puke. What is wrong with your doors?
Well I've looked into the DIY option, read many tutorials, and it's not something I want to do right now. I have no workshop, I'm pretty sure my first few attempts will be hack jobs, and summer is running out fast. I may get into it after I have my system installed.
What would be involved in reinforcing the qlogic panels? I'd imagine it would be done on the inside thus avoiding any possible asthetic mishaps. Also, how do I tell the difference between speakers that work well on or off axis?
Thank you.
Well, I'm still in the research phase, as i'm somewhat of a newbie. By the time I figure out what I want, get it ordered, designed and installed i'll be running out of summer timeI can understand. It is aggrevating having to work out in the yard but that is what I have done since I started doing everything. Just curious, how is your summer running out? Where do you live? Anyway, as for reinforcing, you can use deadener as listed before to make them a little heavier and reduce resonance behind the panel. Also a good thing to do is close it in but you don't want to get into any glassing so I guess that is kinda out. As for the speakers on axis/off axis, they usually tell in a manual somewhere. I'll be honest though, unless you are building some kick panels don't worry about it too much most any should work in your situation plus you won't be able to do any aiming with Q-Logic panels.

I would mind doing any behind the scenes fiberglass work, so I could probably tackle the reinforcement job. Oh and I don't really have a yard either haha... lots of open parking spots though lol.
So would it be good to start by coating the inside of the panel with fiberglass mat and resign and whatnot? Or should I be using dynamat, etc? Is that poly fill stuff worth it? I could see how closing the back could be difficult without affecting the outside look. Although then again I haven't even seen the back of the Q logic panels.
One last question: Should I worry about the specific volume of the enclosure, or is that less of a concern with such a small driver?
Sure. These are some that I built out of the factory panel but you will get the idea. Basically just have to connect the fiberglass piece to the q-logic panel. You will probably have to glass it onto it and texture/repaint it as well. You will have to excuse the quality of some of the pictures. I'd say try it with it completely closed and see how it sounds first before you cut through into the area behind the panel. Also be sure to do something to the q-logic part to strengthen it up or add mass to it.Will you send me pictures on how to glass the back of the q-logics? Mine sound like absolute *** because they don't fit that well and so much air is escaping it sounds like crap, no midbass at all =9
