Was planning on putting 2 12" Alpine Type R's (2ohm), and an Alpine MRP-M1000 amplifier to power them both. How does it sound? Also, what size ported box is perfect for these? Thanks!

i have two type Rs with a hifonics 2008d at 1 ohm. my box is 4.0 cubes at 33hz , should be pretty good set up

No not yet, but I was eying the Hifonics amp, but I want to try and buy the right stuff the first time I guess? I know Hifonics isn't bad, but I am still not sure. Any suggestions? I am looking for 1000rms+ @2ohm, on a tight budget.

hifonics are good for a budget. you can get the hifonics 1608d for 189 with free shipping on ebay. here it will give you 1100 at 2 ohm. but if you did not buy the subs yet get dual 4s and run the amp at 1 ohm and be carful with the gain and you should be alright.

Yeah did not buy the subs yet. So it will be loudest at 1ohm? Is it going to blow the amp running them at 1ohm?

Ive heard 2 type rs on a m1000 but they were wired to 4 ohms instead of 1. Was pretty loud for what it was. Should wang pretty good at 1 ohm, that amp is 1 ohm stable but yet it doesnt list a power rating for what it does at 1 ohm. I know its 1000 at 2 ohms, and it has 4 25a fuses. So i would guess somewhere around 1200 maybe? im not familiar with that amp much though. The zx1000 isnt 1 ohm stable is it?

So with the Alpine amp, I will for sure be safe with 1ohm? Also, do I need 2 4ohm subs for that to work? How exactly do you wire it like that anyways? Thanks guys for the quick responses!

You wanna shoot for a 1400-1500 rms amp for the r's to reach full potential

Well my alternator is 120amp stock, so I don't really want to go over 1,000rms, unless you guys think it will be ok?

I think the MRP-M1000 will be about 1500rms @ 1ohm so that amp should be ok. Will the Hifonics amp sound just as good?

nah the mrp m1000 will not do 1500 rms

It has 4 25a fuses=maybe 1000 on a good day.

120a will be fine for 1500w+ as long as you have other electrical upgrades, IE batts and big three.
