does anyone in here have a grand marquis or crown vic with a system in it??

the reason why i am asking is....i will be installing my amp board and batterys tommorrow....in my grand marquis...and i was wondering how ya'll were bolting down your amp boards....b/c right under the metal on top is the gas tank...and i really do not want to take a chance in screw through it...please give me some ideas...or let me know if there is enough room where i can screw the board down without hitting the gas tank...thanks alot

you'll be awfully close to it. i wouldnt do it. I want to mount my amps up there too, just havent found a decent way of doing it. Theres a guy around here with a 97 grand marquis with 2 15's. I think he has his amps up there. might want to look for him

he made a build log. He used RD gear I think.

93 town car....well u know that area at the top?

pretty much where the back seat covers those holes.

mounted the amp to a piece of wood then mounted the amp all the way to the back and bolted it to some holes in the metal.

kinda hard to explain, lol

Here is how I did mine, and I have a Crown Vic,

I drilled a few short screws in the deck just to hold the wood down, then screwed my amps in there. I have friends that have just screwed right into the deck and thats a big no no, because of course of the gas tank being there.

Streetbeater07 made a custom deck out of scrap MDF, added some carpet, and "wedged" in in there between the trunk lifts so it didnt move at all. Thats something I would consider.

that is very true...i should have thought about that before i already cut my amp board out...but i will check tommorrow under there where the gas tank is to see how much room i got and see if i can screw it down...if not i will have to cut another piece of wood and carpet it again...and wedge it in there...

^^^yea mines was the same way just turn the amps on the side and slide them all the way back..

You could also mount them where the stock amp was. At the top, easily enough holes to bolt it to it.

you could build a board that mounts to the back seat then build one that'll mount to the side area by the trunk arms.
very true...that would look good also .but i still gotta have a place to screw down the box for the batterys ...so i might as well just stay with my idea untill tommorrow when i check everything out to see if i got enough room to screw everything down...

by the way that is a VERY....nice looking trunk for a 93 lincoln...

I had a towncar with similar trunk. I found 1.5" board (Mounted the amps on one and put another over with holes cut for a semi flush mount) fit snugly under some curve that was in there (right in front of the back seat on the little ledge there). Probably really that or on your box is your only options in that trunk

if i do not get called into work tommorrow...i should have it all done by mid afternoon i will post pictures...oh yeah i am not installing IA 40.1 untill the end of feb when i get my subs and box built....and alternator

did mine just like tez on a board of carpeted mdf. the mdf is against my box and that prevents it from sliding foward. it sucks when my box isn't in (which isnt very often) because its fell a couple of time with only my mid amp mounted on the board. Only other way i could think of is (if your amp/amps are small enough) mount them to the metal behind the back seat above the gas tank. Hope this hasn't been said already. good luck and keep us posted.
