Anyone with PowerLine CS experience?

I have heard nothing but good things, but wanted some more opinions. I have been thinking about Germaniums or stepping up to the Power Line CS's. I have experience with the Germ's, I loved them. Just getting a little nervous jumping into uncharted territory.

Hey Manny! I hope he chimes in. I am currently running a set of 6.5" Contours right now. I know it will be an upgrade, I just wanted to get some people with some tuning and ear time. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Deja, you are the man! I appreciate the links you provided. They were insightful. I don't think I will have any issues pulling the trigger. Looks like I will be needing a new amp though.

No problem, man. As for an amp, I recommend one that can do anywhere from 200-300w rms per channel for those CS's. The Kicker ZX850.2 or something with similar power output would be a great choice, IMO.

I have been considering the Arc SE 2300 for these. I am afraid it would be a bit too much power though. I am not 100% sure about the thermal handling for the set with that much power. Another option I was looking into is the SE 4100.

Nope, that Arc amp will be great if you are familiar with setting gains with a DMM and test tone.

Square Root of Watts times Ohms equals Output Voltage.

150 WATTS: (Rainbow recommended minimum)

SQRT (150*4) = 24.49V

180 WATTS: (Rainbow recommended nominal)

SQRT (180*4) = 26.83V

200 WATTS:

SQRT (200*4) = 28.28V

250 WATTS:

SQRT (250*4) = 31.62V

300 WATTS:

SQRT (300*4) = 34.64V

As stated in another thread, the mids use the same basket and magnet as the Vanadium 7" sub, so putting a lot of clean power to the comps will not be a problem.

I have never set gains using a DMM, but I have a cheap one, and if that isn't good enough I know someone with a nice Fluke. I have been told it isn't that difficult, just match as close as you can.

On a side note, I thre in Norah Jones today for a change of pace. I really do love these Contours. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I think the next 2 weeks will be the longest two weeks ever. Or since the last time I ordered something. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The powerline are simply amazing speakers. They can handle a great deal of power also. So dont be affraid to give them all you got. The Cal 27 is a awesome tweet...you can really crank this set up without it falling on its face...

Dont worry bud youll be happy, now man up and send me the monies. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
Hahahahah. Looks like the tentative date is the 24th. I will do up a nice thread with pics and all.
