in georgia currently it isnt the wiring that scares me its the fact that they are telling me his alarm will mess up and other issues may be there as well and dont wanna do a half Ass job

Hey man - what will happen is the Deville will go into sleep mode every 6-12 hours. It does this because the factory deck has anti-theft stuff in it. The wiring harness WILL NOT WORK! You will need to relocate the existing tape deck to your trunk, run a new power, and these two purple cords called datamax or something like that to the trunk. That will fix your problem.

It's a BIG PAIN IN THE BUTT! But it's doable, and no different than hooking up any other system other than you have to mount the old deck somewhere else.

For newer Cadillacs, or even older ones, they have a little mod box that will correct this problem and make it to where you don't need to relocate the deck. Those boxes are around 100 bucks. The mod box WILL NOT WORK for a 98 Deville. Trust me, I've tried, for some reason, it won't work.

I've installed one of these before. It's best to let the shop do it for 150. If you try it yourself you will end up spending more than that to just get it back up and working after you screw it up. It's not just a straight forward head unit install.

they were charging 150 just for the harness... thanks for the input though i hate to tell my friend that its something i cant help him with i would rather tell him that than **** up his ride and have him holding me accountable

and the harness they were selling was one with a chip/box whatever you wanna call it
