Why do undercooked wendy's fries smell like chemicals?

Has anyone else noticed this?

About 2 months ago, i went into the local Kent, OH wendy's, and got a #1 value meal, and when they put the grub on my tray, the fries were cold.

Anyways, i asked them if they could make me some fresh fries.

5 minutes later, the dude behind the counter signaled me up to grab my new fries, and i took a bite of one, and it tasted TERRIBLE!!!!!!

I smelled the fries, and they honestly smelled like dry-cleaner chemcials.

I thought this was an isolated incident, like they were messing with me, for being a prick about the cold fries, so i left and threw them out, and thought nothing of it.

Now today, i'm out on a delivery, and stop for some yum yums. I go to wendy's, order a combo, and low and behold, the fries once again smell like dry-cleaner chemicals.

I've eaten at wendys between these two incidents, and no problems whatsoever.

It seems that it must be a 'smell' and 'taste' from the preservatives, that's usually cooked out of the fries before serving, but at busy lunch hours, and at on-the-fly 'fresh fry complaint' situations, the nasty smell/taste isn't cooked out.

Has anyone else noticed this?

I really do like wendy's, and used to love their fries. But i'm paranoid as hell about eating any food that smells like a dry-cleaner.

So is this in my head? Or do wendy's friends carry a funk sometimes?

Or if anyone works at wendy's, clear this up for me!!!!!

I don't like/eat Wendy's fries as to me they are incredibly bland. I do eat their food and it's tough to beat a large Frosty on a hot day (though what's the deal with the addition of vanilla Frosties to the menu??!) but IMO their fries just generally **** fresh or otherwise.

Can't say I've ever noticed a chemical-type odor coming from them, however //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

Something similar to this has happened to me at several ff joints. I think it's some type of preservative not cooked out if they rush a batch through......I've gotten both awesome ans shitey fries at wendy's and juat about all other joints......

yes, i tried a vanilla frosty today. and luckily it was just the .99 size, it was nowhere near the greatness of the chocolate frosty.

and icetee, the first time it was a sunday, mid-afternoon, so the thought of cleaning did cross my mind, so i wasn't really that concerned, but today it was at 11:55 (i could've made it back to work in the 5 minutes, but decided to take advantage of get a few extra minutes for lunch) so i can't imagine they'd clean the fryers right before lunch.

i don't know, it's really not a big deal, i still love their hamburgers, but i used to also enjoy their fries (with 10 gallons of ketchup or so, mandatory)

i was really just wondering if anyone else had noticed.

it could even be the smell of uncooked potatos, i can't say i've smelled too many.
