i think i blew my sub because the voltage drops were too high...

does anyone use a capacitor that they could recommend? or do i need a new alternator? i have 2 batteries, a 200A alternator, 1/0 kolossus fleks cables, a sundown saz-3000D amp and a 12 solo X. not sure why it blew, i had the gains set with a DMM.

I hate it when my voltage drops high.

voltage drop would kill your amp not your sub. Sub would blow from too much power or clipping it.

setting gains with dmm isnt a clip free method... just a base start subs blow from too much power and clipping low voltages would kill your amp... what does the voltage drop to?

how do you set gains properly to ensure no clipping, without using an oscilloscope?

set it with the dmm and by ear. once it sounds like distortion, its clipping

this would show you if you are clipping or not but its a little more tricky than it sounds like
