Anyone sick of installing car stereos for your friends?

Well, at least my friends understand that installing is my job and they trust me the help them.

What I do hate is customers here at the shop that show up w/ crap stuff and don't want to spend $60 on a good 4ga amp kit, then the go down the road and get a BS '4ga' kit for $40 that is smaller than my 8ga kit and get mad at me when I won't install their "3000w" amp w/ it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Or they won't spend $200 for me to build them a nice 2-12 box, but will buy $60 boxes w/ wall that break out in about a month. Then come back and want me to fix it because I told them my install carried a warranty //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

i love when some one listens to my system that has only 2-10's and they are like wow thats sick can you make my car sound like that, i have like $150 to spend. i just laugh and tell them i have more than that invested in power wire.
lol true as hell ima have to start telling retards i know that from now on

i get "well i went to this place XXXXX that you told me not to go to and now nothing works... can you fix it?"

We hear and see " my buddies cousins friends dad put this in for me and now none of it works, sounds like crap, XXX is screwed up"

then they want us to fix it for cheep.

i had a customer (i work at radio shack) trying to buy a power horn to "get loud" and told me that he is gonna hook it up in a 2 channel amp. XD i offered him a warranty when he blows up the coils of the horn. lol

I don't install but people laugh at me when I say my 10s will hit harder than any 15s they can afford... I take them to my car and they start making bs offers... Lol... This guys swears up and down is 2 Kicker Comp 15s (when he can afford them)are going to blow out my L7 10s and W7 10s...

my policy now is, I'll only help with your install if you listen to me when choosing equipment. I don't want to be involved if I know the outcome is going to be bad.
this...if someone is willing to let me in on all decisions, I will do it even if the budget is small, but I do tell them I will have to scower CL and some online forums first..I also tell them that watts and equipment do not mean ****...i.e 2000w to 15s is irrelevent if its a Pyle amp to 2 Boss 15s, in situations like that I usually try and tell them to get 1 legit sub, either 10 or 12, I'll build a nice ported box and try and find them a legit 3-500rms amp...I have never had a dissapointed friend when they actually listen

You think this is all bad. Try owning a shop in a smaller town. Friends I never knew I had crawl out from under their rocks looking for "deals". After I closed the shop, now I get the "can you hook me up, I have a few hundred and need everything" I just laugh. After everything I have done around here it is pretty well known unless you listen to me on product and installation don't bother.

I don't get it too often but I always try to do whatever I can to help. I just remember when I had my first stereo and didn't know anything at all, had my buddy hook it up and I was ballin in my '93 Caprice with the 3 10w3s in the trunk lol. So it's cool for me to be able to do it for someone else.

I lol'd hard when this dude asked for my help and opened his trunk to two different size and brand subs in two different boxes. He said he wanted to know how to bridge it to get the amps full power instead of only half of it. Oh and one of the subs was blown, and at the same time had superglue all over the surround connecting it to the gasket. I walked away.

My friends are morons. Retards comparing T1's to DC Level 4 15"s because their name brand stuff is better than no name stuff. Last time I did an install for a friend she had a tape deck in her 02 Malibu. She wanted MP3 and CD capabilities and her budget was cheap so I found a nice deal at Sonic for an Eclipse 3414G with all the dash kits, antenna adapters, and install stuff for $100. She paid for everything up front. I ordered it and had it shipped to me. I did the install on my time. I told her I would do it free since she helps cover some of my shifts at work that nobody else will. Well she ended up paying $100 for the HU and paid me $60 to install it. I told her to keep her money, but she insisted and put it in my box of tools. Funny thing is Best Buy would have done it for $19.

I know cool story bro

i love the ones that say "what do i have to do to get it to sound like yours?" then you tell them the price and time and they're like never mind. i'm like most of you guys if you don't like my recommendations i'll listen to yours but if it's gonna **** i'ma tell u right out of the box.
