Anyone SI 12" MAG d2 v4?

cool i just hope 2 MAGs will have enough output for me. should.. as long as they get as loud as 2 10w6v2 sealed on 1000watts with better SQ to boot ill be happy
I'd definitely be interested to hear your feedback on the SI MAg's after the install based on where you are now with the 10w6's.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I have a single 12" running off ~800 watts (DD ss1) and I really like it. It is definitely different than anything I've heard from a sub before. It is very transparent and blends in really well with my comps. It can get loud enough to make me happy, and for a single 12 in a small sealed box, it is very impressive. It took a little bit of getting used to just because of how tight it is compared to the setup I was running before. It's almost too clean at points and makes the bass blend even at very loud levels. You'd have to hear one to understand I guess. The only thing I am not digging so much is it isn't very loud in the very low end of the spectrum, but I was pretty spoiled with my TC-9 and it could also have something to do with my cabin gain.

another thing i want to throw out there is i usually prefer my xover at 80-120hz, 100hz probably being ideal in most cases for me. i had my pioneer shallows at 120 and loved it.

Man i just cant decide im trying to order something this weekend. IDQ12v3 for output or MAG for all out SQ

If you're going to be running a pair of mags, they should have plenty of output for most people. I wouldn't even hesitate on that if I were in the market for a sub.

What size box do you have your Mag in? The v4's murder the v2's which were TC-9 based in low end extension in small sealed boxes.

To the OP, the v4 Mag's can hang with the ID's when it comes to output from small'ish sealed enclosures...if not be louder than the ID's.

I have it in a ~1.1cf box after displacement. It doesn't come close in the low end and that is the only part I'm not happy with. It has some output but it is pretty weak in the 20-35hz range.

Are you sure the box and driver are sealed up tight? I had the same problem in the Lexus to begin with, but the drivers weren't sealed up very well. I made new gaskets for them (I had to take off the gasket we supply) out of Luxury Liner and they play a lot lower now. ...but it's not as if they had that much of a problem to begin with - it's just really different getting used to having clean output that far down low. In comparisson, the v2's sounded like 40 Hz overtones with a 20 Hz pulse compared to the v4's just disappearing and feeling pressure at 20 Hz...which is to be expected. Anyway, try lining the walls with fiberglass insulation and stuff the rest of the enclosure lightly with polyfill. If you don't have access to the fiberglass (although you can buy the tiny rolls of it at your local hardware store for ~$6 each), just stuff the enclosure lightly with polyfill.

The enclosure is made out of fiberglass and already lightly stuffed with polyfill //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif The seal is just fine, I can't hear any hissing or anything. I had to remove the gasket to get the sub to fit flush as well. We're talking ported vs. sealed, the driver in a different location, and a lot less power handling. I can get the SI to bottom out before my amp breaks up. The sub sure does play clean really low, but the output isn't nearly the same. It's not that big of a deal since most of the music I listen to doesn't come close to getting that low anyways.

Yep, the v4's can't handle near the power that a TC-9 can handle. Ohhhh, and you had the TC-9 ported also. Well that makes a little more sense. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I love my Mag, very happy I went with it. It is nice having a great sounding driver that gets more than lud enough for all practical purposes and also only needs 1 cube, it has helped me gain a lot of cargo room back.

I'm looking at buying two for my 2003 CRV. I've got someone who is going to build me a custom dual 12"box for them. I assume he is going to build the box around the subs to get the best sound these subs have to offer.

so i take it your a fan of the IDQ over the v4? what did you like/dislike about each?
The fact that one was made by SI probably swayed his vote.

I would like to hear your review criteria (source material, components used - HU, speakers, amps, etc,) for sound quality though. From what I've gathered (and please prove me wrong), if it's not loud it doesn't sound good.

Well, I think (don't shoot me) that most users on this board believe "sound quality" to be cranking the stereo as loud as it goes, without excessive distortion from the sub.

So when you look at it that way, my guess is that there are people out there that wont like the sound of a Mag V4 or DIYMA R12, when they're used to these high output (high distortion too //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif) drivers, they don't like the clean transparent sound subs like that have to offer.
