Anyone running alpine type R 10's or 12's

I searched the forums looking for info, but I would still like some input. I already have an alpine 9886 HU and am getting a MRP M1000 amp. I wanted to hear some input from people actually running these subs. I listen 75% rock 25% rap and really like bass. I would get the 12's, but Im not sure if the alpine type r 12's have the response time to sound good with fast drums. On the other hand I'm not sure if the 10's will put out the lows I like.

Any one out there running 2 10's type r's or 2 12 type r's that can comment on how they do on rap and rock. I'm kinda stuck on which one to pick. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i use to have a Type R. It was a decent sub, it handled some power and delivered ok bass but there is better stuff out there at a lower price.

Check out RE subs.

In terms or responce time they do lag a little from my experiences when listening to tool or korn who have fast drums but they handle rap ok although they never hit the full spectrum of bass ranges.

Nope no one here is running any Type R's.

I disagree, I've been running R's for about 2 years now and I think they're great for the money. They get loud as hell but can also handle the low notes easily. All depends on the enclosure though.

I was hoping to find someone out there who had heard both the 10's and the 12's as I have no way to do that. I am leaning towards the 10's I guess.

I was hoping to find someone who had first hand knowledge on the alpine type r 10 and 12 in subs. I guess I will hunt around town and try to find someone using them and listen.

they are good woofers man. And they will last a long long time. Buy one.

Oh, and most of the bass should be coming from your components when listening to metal. With just a little bit of sub to blend it in. Too muc bass will indeed sound like ***. I listen to 95% metal btw
