Anyone replaced an alt in an '84-'87 civic?

I am going to be upgrading the alt in the rex here in a few. I really need as big as possible...somewhere ~250-350a. Has anyone put one on that large? Issues with it? Being that large it has the ability to rob the car of 30hp...and the car stock doesnt have much as it is.

Its not a daily driver, but it still needs to be able to handle the weight and power loss of 5-600lbs of equipment and the large alt.

Experience?
