Anyone put subs under their rear seats facing forward?

Hi,

I am trying to figure out where I would like to put a sub(s) in my 4 door car.

I really like the idea of putting a 6.5" sub under each of the driver side rear seat and passenger side rear seat...

This way I would have just the bass effect I am looking for, without the "booming" I am not - and the "punch" feeling would be felt in the front seats, as the subs would be pointed that way...

Has anyone ever done this before?

Any constructive input?

Thanks as always!

The best thing to do is still a trunk build just using smaller speakers, so it's not so "boomy"

Or they do sell little bass machines to go under your seat. I will never, however, suggest those to a member.

Yeah... I keep going back and forth on this... but I would rather stay out of the trunk...

I am leaning toward either:

1. Putting a 6.5" or 8"(if I can find someway of making it fit and still look nice) in the rear deck between the 6x9s

2. Putting a 6.5" sub under each of the rear driver and rear passenger seats

3. Putting a pair of 5.25" woofers in the rear doors

i would replace the 6 x 9's with 6.5 or 8 inch subs, and just eliminate the rear 6x9's all together (keep the rear door speakers running off the deck) and get a good set of front components. i like the under seat idea also, but i don't think you really need 4 subs to get some decent bass. i would seal 2 8's under the seats or port 2 6.5's. if the box is done right with adequate air space, it may be too much with 2 subs. my single jl8w6 was too much for my bosses jeep. he loved the sound, but i had the amp turned way down. nowhere near potential volume.

I think you're looking for a little more bass with good accuracy and not body flexing SPL levels. I think doing some small little 8" subs in an infinite baffle setup in your rear trunk deck would be the best solution for you. It's quite easy to install, will have great SQ, and not take up any trunk space. Since the subs are more or less free air as well, you won't need loads of power to drive them, which also is nice.
