alright im getting annoyed with my knuckles. I wrap my hands just right, not too tight or loose and then i put on boxing gloves. Not just bag boxing gloves but the bigger ones that you punch people in the face with lol. I pound on an 80 lb punching bag for 30 minutes and when i take off the gloves/wraps my index and middle finger knuckles are black and crunching feeling happens when i make/unmake a fist in them. Is this normal? these injurys seem like the type you'd get if you were to not of used the wraps/gloves at all.

i don't do either of these myself, but i believe it's really common. They did a show on floyd mayweather jr, and how he does all these special things for his hands cuz they are in such bad shape from all the years.

Sorry man, I've got a canvas bag (don't know the weight) would guess around 80lbs though from moving it around. Had it almost 15 years, but I don't use gloves, I just learned not to miss the bag cause that thing used to tear the crap outta my knuckles if they just skimmed across it. I would say just make sure you are punching with your first two knuckles, or get gloves designed for bags. A buddy had these gel gloves, **** they felt nice to hit with.

After doing martial arts for 14 years one of the first things I've learned when it comes to punching and saving your knuckles, especially the middle fingers', is to make the top/back part of your hand level with the top of your arm. You will strike more on the front of the knuckle vs. the top which is fairly sensitive. Also your strikes will be more powerful with less effort. Sound right to you?

I have over 6 years of online Shaolin e-fighting under my belt but sorry I can't help you with any real life shit //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

I did ask a buddy who does some of that kung fu crap and he said your hands should build up over time, he was not too specific but I am guessing the skin around your knuckles gets tougher over time?

Take a picture of your fist, and I'm pretty sure I can tell you what you need to do. That sounds like a technique issue instead of an equipment issue. I need to see it though, because I'm about 98% sure I know what you're doing wrong. I've broken both of my hands from improper fist technique, and that crunching (kinda like cracking your knuckles many times as your clench your fist?) means you're on that road. PM me the pic if you want, but I'm pretty sure I know what's up.

It is common for beginners, and it's almost always from improper punch technique. Mayweather is a professional boxer who has been boxing for his entire life; amateur and pro obviously. The body can only take so much, even with the best preventative measures.

Eastern martial arts tend to preach the first two, but the middle, ring, and pinky fist can be superior for just boxing. If you don't believe me, either look at videos of guys like jack dempsey, joe louis or ali and you'll see that they all use and advocated the last three, read up on bare-knuckle boxing. There is always debate on this topic, and it almost always comes down to preference, so OP, roll a fist and then look at your hand. The middle does all the work in any punch because it's always aligned, but in some the last three align straight with the forearm (I broke both my hands after being taught to hit with the first two, only to realize that the bones meet my wrist at an angle when I make contact with index/middle straight on). See what works for you.

Not in boxers, not really. He's probably talking about how the bones calcify after repeated abuse, which works great for breaking and kicking, but that's exactly opposite to what boxers do. Most boxers hands get more fragile and brittle over time, not the other way around.
