Anyone on this forums interested more on SQ than SPL?

SQ guy here, ask anyone who's listened to my car.

Ever heard of the Z06? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
Yes, very nice car BTW //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif You get my point though //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I changed over from SPL to SQ @ 19 and @ 21 I am not looking back.... I just want to keep moving forward and find the best sound for the best bucks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif.

I've heard a couple great sql vehicles and I'm trying to imitate that as close as possible. I have a TC-3000 on an orion 2500D sealed, but I'm going to try 3 12" mb quart references sealed for fun, eqx, and rainbow germs. Hopefully soon I can afford a 3sixty.2 for my setup and ditch the eqx. I love clean and clear music but it's just a must for me to be loud as well.

I'm not trying to stereotype (haha) or anything, but it seems that people that use the term SQL just don't want to be labeled as SPL or bassheads, but don't have the interest or ambition to spend enough time to tune their systems properly, or they just don't care all that much. Clean and loud is enough for most people. But for real SQ, clean and loud isn't enough. Imaging and tonality still need to be taken into account.

sq=sealed boxspl=ported/bandpass, poorly tuned box

sql=ported/bandpass, properly tuned box

Obviously , cause what you said couldn't get much farther from the actual truth. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

IMHO all the "SQ" competition cars ive heard sounded like total shit. i like good sounding music. but calling something SQ material is very subjective.

any kind of music can be sq material . The difference comes in with the balance that most competition sq systems have . //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Actually, SQ material is not subjective. Either it's recorded will or it's not. A lot of new CDs, the Killers comes to mind, are recorded terribly. Lots of clipping. A system can't sound good if the recording is crap in the first place. That's why it just sounds like a bunch of noise in their songs, there's no dynamics. There are threads on this.

SQ material doesn't mean it is good music. It means it's recorded well and has high dynamic range and a good assortment of sounds throughout the frequency spectrum.

i never really got into SQ conversations on here much because it varys alot. so ill just stay out of this one. i like good, clean sounding music. i think my car sounds amazing. but still needs alot more tuning.

If this isn't the face your passengers make when you turn on your system, your system is weak sauce. Also, I am curious of this "SQ" you speak of. Anything like DP?
