anyone listen to Opera?

The Three Irish Tenors, not the twelve, those guys are incredible! I have a pretty nice SQ system so I think I'll look for that song, Koopsta Knicca, & see what it sounds like. I'm always looking for some good SQ music to show off my speakers & to just relax to.

In the past I've seen a few "Big Bass" Threads, a thread where everyone lists their opinions of big bass songs. Someone should start one for some SQ music as well. I know there is a-lot of music I have'nt heard that really sounds good. I have found that a-lot of Country music sounds nice on a good SQ system.

I listen to a lot of opera and love it.

Pavarotti does a song with Celine Dion called "I hate you then I love you" and it has a nice bass line in it, along with awesome vocals.

I'm a huge fan of the Three Tenors, particularly, Luciano Pavarotti. My favorites from him are "Vesti La Giubba", "Ave Maria", and "Nessum Dorma".

If you like choral music, Craig Armstrong's "Escape" is an excellent track with a nice beat with a little bass in the end. Another good set of choral music (with some opera styles in it) is "Brahms- Ein Deutsches Requiem, Op.45" from Philippe Herreweghe. That is one of my favorite albums that I can never stop listening to.

Hans Zimmer uses Lisa Gerrard in a lot of his scores and I like that, though I'm not a fan of the samples on Amazon.
What did you not like?

Her vocals on the Black Hawk Down OST will rip your ears off...I didn't like her as much on the Gladiator score though. Then again, I think that entire album is recorded at waaayyy too high of a level, I've never heard it on a setup where it doesn't sound muddled and compressed at high volumes.

Thanks for the suggestions. I just now ordered Gling-Gló and Best of Lisa Gerrard. I like to collect different sounds. Sometimes I'll like a piece of a song but don't want to listen to the whole thing so I'll edit it with sound forge to my liking. That way, I can collect and enjoy different sounds without having to listen to parts I don't care for.

I'll have to check out the Black Hawk Down album as I love her voice. I really love the Gladiator soundtrack but you're right, the recording is done too high and sounds rough at high volumes in my car. I love listening to it at low volumes on my computer though.
