Anyone know of a 150 decibel, 10 second car??

Uhh, my car has hit 149 and has ran a 12.8 in the 1/4 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
Im close? lol

Big block oldsmobile engine + 300lbs in the trunk + 3.42 posi = hooking up and hauling ***

Its faster than most street cars, and its **** near stock. I think stock a first gen 455 puts down around 450hp/500 tq. I added headers, 3" duals with H pipe, carb, new ignition, and tuned it pretty good. I guess im somewhere around 500hp/550+ tq. Pretty good for a near stock, reliable daily driver, i get about 14mpg city, probably around 18 hwy, depending on how heavy my foot is feeling.
12.8 is not anywhere near 10sec. FYI

Love the whine of a supercharger. Id rather listen to that while Im driving, and have the 150db system in my 4-banger.
My 4-banger whines...but its a turbo lol. I keep the system in my car to assist the V8 guys..slows me down a tad so maybe they can keep up hahaha...

I have a V8 build as well, but the eclipse is by far the most fun I have had with a build. I love throwing down 11s at the track, with my system in, and still drive home with close to 30mpg. To bad DSM's like to break though.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

Bull shit, you arent no where near 500 hp, you have to factor in wear also.

turbos don't whine, they whistle. You must not have ever heard a supercharged car if you think they sound even remotely like a turbo car.

A lot of you guys don't know **** about cars/engines. just because something is "rated" at a certain power level doesn't mean a **** thing! OF ALL PEOPLE, YOU GUYS SHOULD KNOW THAT!!!!

Some 454's from back in the day made well over 500hp BONE STOCK but were only rated at 400hp~.

I have a TON of car magazines from the 50's to present. I remember one in particular (from 73-74 I believe it is) that did a big test on a ton of different cars and showed MUCH more realistic HP/TQ "estimates". It was pretty crazy as some of them where 150hp+ over their factory rating. "Horsepower Wars" of the 60's-early 70's made for a lot of "under rating". Everyone wanted to be fastest but to keep insurance cost down for buyers, they under rated the hell out of a lot of cars.

they're still at it today! There was a magazine that dyno tested a 2010 Challenger R/T not too long ago. It put down almost 380HP AT THE REAR WHEELS, yet the engine is only rated at 370hp @ 5,800rpm...

You are correct that in the very late 60's and early 70's the factory underrated HP numbers for insurance reasons. But not many were realistically in the 500+hp range, even after factoring in the underrating. Again, the LS7 was the highest HP engine GM produced in that era, and the real-world tests Ive seen put it in the 550hp range. Not many other 454's in that era had the huge closed chambered heads, headers, etc that the LS7 did, so I doubt many approached it in real world power.
