Anyone know about these cars?

A friend of mine is in need of a sedan for $5k or less by the end of the month. I have looked for accords, camrys, avalons, maximas, etc, and cant find anything. They either have over 160k miles or have body damage. I found a 2000 Mercury Sable with 38k miles for 4,995 at a dealer. Does anyone know anything about Sables? Are they decent cars? If I remember the Sable is the same platform as the Regal, Grand Prix, and Impalas. If it is then its pretty much bullet proof as far as the engine goes.

keep looking. i almost bought a sable last week but i didnt want to pay the asking price.

I would certainly negotiate the car to a lower price. If I could get it to 4500 out the door with taxes and tags, would that be a decent deal? I am more concerned with reliability.

Has to be a car, going to be driving about 30-40 miles each way to work.

I like the two in bold. But all are good, Even that sable fo 38k olny 5k for it. Not bad price. If it is all in good shape Id say buy it. They are really not that bad of a car if kept up in everything, Say oil changes Coolant service. Stuff like that.

Im not so sure about the price.

But sables are not bad cars. I own a taurus and I love it. Good ride, very comfortable, bullet proof engine.

Just an FYI with the digital climate control you cannot change out the HU with out highly extensive work the circuit board.

Look into a Nissan Sentra. Good gas mileage, pretty reliable, can be found at pretty good prices, especially on Craigslist.
