Anyone here run 8's or one 10?

I have a 99 Dodge Ram quad cab that I am installing a small system in. My short term plans do not include a sub but I'd like to start researching (and plan ahead) so that I can add some type of sub.

I do not listen to any real bass heavy type of music and do not want the type of sound that 12's/15's give. I want a nice clean, tight "punch".

I do not see many posts of people that only run smaller subs so I want to get some input. Would two 8's sound pretty good or would it be better for one 10? I would also entertain particular brands as well as an amp to match it with.

I run one 10" RE SE and I like it, nice response and gets decently loud.

Do you dislike it because you want more bass? What kind of 8's and amp?

i like my little 10" OEM. if your not looking for a lotta bass, just something to pick up the bottom end. a single 10 would fit you good.

Hmmm, so the overwhelming majority seem to go with one 10".

Am I wrong to assume that two 8's would be a "tighter", less boomy type of bass?

I mostly listen to rock music so nothing that would need low, rumbling bass. I guess maybe a crossover could be adjusted or just turn the bass control on the head unit down.

Any other thoughts?

i run a single 10 jlw6 suits all my needs tight punchhy bass but will hit low freq when needed to i would belive that two 8's would provide the tightness but but a good single ten would suffice your needs quite well adding a crossover would allow u further adjustment but its nice to have a little bottom end!!!
