If you wreck at almost any speed on a bike you are very likely to be gone. Guy died here in columbus doing 50 mph. Fell off and got run over. Then again he was riding when it was WAY too cold and most likely cramped up.for one... you wreck at high speeds, no second chance. all it takes is one little slip-up and you're gone. this is why bikes ****....
I like Ducati's my main gripe with them is the relatively high maintenance cost they have when compared to the Japanese manufacturers.I have a Ducati 900ss and a Ducati 750ss.
To whoever said the 14 > Ducati *chuckle* Yeah, ok. Sure...it is faster (almost all of the japenese bikes are) but that is what you get when you throw a ton of horsepower under a bunch of plastic //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
Build quality on Ducks are excellent. I will 2nd and 3rd the 650 suzuki. Very VERY good first bike.
Maintenance is almost insane! 1800 for the big tune-up. Good tip is to find a local ducati club and they will almost always have a mechanic lined up. I got my tune-up done for 600.I like Ducati's my main gripe with them is the relatively high maintenance cost they have when compared to the Japanese manufacturers.
Bikes don't ****, idiot riders do.
Take your classes, learn how to ride, be smart (ride in a pack, etc.) be defensive and don't show off, you will be just fine.
