what would be a good bike to start off on for an ameture? i just got back from bike week in mexico and always wanted to get one but im finally gonna go out and get into it.

I did but I sold my cbr600 a while back as I was not riding it enough to justify paying insurance on it. But I will pick up another soon though.

the new suzuki 550 is pretty solid for a beginner bike, but i rode it twice and wanted more afterwards.

then again, i've been on sport ATV's since i was 4 years old

first and foremost, definitely enroll in the MSF basic rider course if you haven't yet. for brand new riders, a 250cc (kawasaki 250) is always recommended. personally, I started off with a 99' Yamaha fzr600 which was a middleweight sport bike. Jumping from that to a gsxr600/600rr wasn't too crazy. I'm sure a 250 to that would've been.

My first bike was a suzuki sv650. Really easy bike to learn on IMO. Easy to wheelie and ride in the city. Soon as I save enough cash, I'm going with a zx6r (636) or a gixxer 750. Whichever one presents the better deal
