Anyone have problems shipping a battery?

UPS is killin me. They are saying they need a UN number to ship the battery because its hazardous. So I call up kinetik, and they say its not hazardous, so therefore has no UN number. Hopefully, something will give tomorrow and I can ship.

The battery is a sealed type right? then there is no concern. Just be sure it is well packed and go to a different UPS store (they may remember you...lol) They are probably thinking you have a regular car battery which has acid and such that can easily spill if handled wrong. Also I do not think you can ship the item by Air ( I could be wrong, I know some things are not safe for air transit) so as long as you send it ground, there should not be a problem

go to fedex man...ive never had them ask what was in a box. Ive accepted delivery on batteries from ups and fedex though

they didn't ask me to write down what was inside. it was also a sealed battery, yellowtop. i thought they would be suspicious when such a small package weighs 65 pounds.

fedex will be cheaper as well. As long as it's below 70lb's, they charge for the size of package.. not weight like UPS.

Fex Ex pwns when it comes to shipping heavy small packages...They go by size...alothough UPS does come through when it comes to shipping really large Items, UPS will ship anything.

I've shipped Rims through fedex.. and it was still cheaper than UPS. 17" with tires.

Fedex goes by weight as well (I have an account with both UPS and Fedex, and where I work went from one to the other). FedEx is moving in on UPS' business so they are lowballing some prices.

Go to the rate calculator and they ask for weighs (and have scales at the Fed Ex counter at Kinkos).

Where I work we sell and ship sealed lead acid batteries. That is the trick, the sealed part.
