Anyone have Free-To-Air Sat up and running?

You need a FTA receiver, lnbs, dish, etc.

You program the receiver with specific software to pick up DishNetwork chans.

You don't need a 10ft dish.. a 32" or 18" works just fine.

It's fairly easy..

Yeah I am pointed at 110/119/129 for dish network and get all the regular channels plus like 50+ HD channels on the 8000 HD I have. I am also pointed at 82/91 which are BEV satellites (canadian) for the NFL Sunday ticket during Football season.

Okay... Stepfather called me yesterday to go over. He bought a receiver and a friend of his got it up and running. He is getting 670 channels including PPV, skin channels, Sirius, etc... His receiver isn't a HD or recordable type though. I need to search one out for myself and I am going for it! I need HD and a recordable though.

dont ever buy that shit with your paypal or credit card account, and when you do order a reciever, send it to some other address while you're at it.

It doesnt matter. Its not illegal to buy ISO 7816 card reader/writers but every online shop that got closed down by the FBI a couple of years ago in reference to the DTV hacking got their records seized and turned over to DTV's laywers. They in turn went after every person in that list in civil lawsuits for stealing signal - even if the end purchaser was just some poor schumck who wanted a card programmer for his home PC that had nothing to do with hacking.

I should know, I was standing right next to my friend when the Sherrif pulled up and served him his lawsuit papers. All he did was a buy a programmer from a site online with his credit card. He ended up settling out of court for $4000 because it would of cost 3 times that to fight DTV's lawyers.

so yeah, clean up after your purchases if you go this route.

That sucks.

But DirecTV was a whole other issue.

Buying a FTA reciever, lnbs, etc.. could never get him sued.. You can use a FTA receiver and lnbs for legal purposes.

they'd have to come to his house get a warrent for the receiver and see that it's hooked up to receive Dish.. or ExpressVu..

it's not likely.. I dunno...
