anyone ever wire up a grand cherokee?

I have a 1996 grand cherokee limited. today, I got my box for my 15" L7 all made and beautiful... got my amp mounted to the back, wires ran, everything's going excellent. (the box is pretty **** nice, too, imo. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif maybe pics soon.) anyway, so I go to tear my jeep apart so I can run the wires... and I can't find a single place to run them through the firewall. I'm not sure if I want to just run it through the frame, and drill a hole in the bottom of my jeep under my back seat... but I was just wondering what anyone else has done, if they've had experience with grand cherokees.

Thanks.

i drilled a hole in the passenger firewall in mine... the other thing you can do is run it under the car and drill a hole under the backseat and there is a heatsheild under the vehicle where the wire can be sat

i suggest drilling through the firewall

anymore questions send an im to adawgbro9443

thanks for the fast input, guys. I'll just drill right on through the firewall then. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I'll post pictures of my completed work when I'm done tuesday. (stupid second shift job. 3pm to 1:30am. bleh.)

ya i drilled mine right next to the air evap housing for the a/c on the passenger side (that black plastic thing with the circle shape to it towards the bottom).

I left the jeep at my cousin's house, so he's just going to do it while I'm at work. Pictures should be up tomorrow morning before I go to work, if I'm not too busy playing with my new toy. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I had a 93 Grand Cherokee I6

I went from the engine bay, to underneath the jeep, Through the tubing for transmission support bar, up into the rear seat.

after looking things over for hours I decided that it was my plan A :p

try jeepforum.com or jeepsunlimited.com

There are supposed routes through the steering column

Might have been easier on the I6 I had but I never looked hard. Firewall drilling scares me.

if you have the V8, then good luck

When I did my friends 88 pioneer, I ran it through the speedo cables grommet. You had to pull the speedo cluster out but ours was already out so it was a nice quick deal. But I'm pretty sure the firewall holes have changed from 88-96. I try my hardest to keep firewall drilling to a minimum. You just got to search for a nice hole somewhere. Look for the main wiring harness and follow that.

I actually did end up just routing it through the frame, and up into the back seat from under. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

And yes, I have the 5.2L V8. Monster. Roar.

Thanks for all the help, guys. If it ever stops storming here, I'll get some pictures of how it's routed and whatnot, incase anyone else has this same problem? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif
