Anyone ever put sundown SA12"s in a sealed box?

You should just do subs and port back so you can put things on top of the box. Just leave about 4in between subs and doors. Make the box take up the while cargo area just keep it low like it 14" total height.

I started the box today, the width is 54" wide , height is about 15" and depth about 13.5". The subs will face The ceiling and the port will face the back door. I will have a couple of 1" diameter braces and I will keep the subs on one side and the port on the opposite. I will use some of the box as a counter about 28" or so if needed , items like soft item groceries for example . And I still have 56" and about 12" of trunk space for anything else I need in front of the box. It should be tuned to 32hz and 4 cu for 2 12"s . I have to step out to a 3 year old family birthday party ( don't you love those ?) and will be rushing back to build. My amp came in today as well so I'm pretty excited. I'll keep you all posted with pics and comments, I'll be wearing my cup for all the ball busters too, lol, deep inside I appreciate the help regardless of the way it's expressed, lol.

SA's work very well sealed....firing into ported.....aka 4th order
That's a big *** box for a single 12....
It's a t-line and they just require lots of space. I don't use it no more because of the size but it was a fun build and sounded real nice. I still have it .... If anybody is in the Chicago land area is looking for a t-line for a w7 - get at me - I'll hook you up -

i'd tune those sundowns to 34-36hz instead If you are doing a slot port, i dont see it getting down to 32hz without sacrificing a lot of airspace and you will be low on airspace or the port will be soo small that you will be low on port area.

Why? 32hz too low ? I hear it's pretty good for hip hop and I'm more old school hip hop

too low, old school hip hop doesnt have low bass lines, it has a lot of upper bass lines that you'll miss out on. You also dont have the airspace to do a proper box with proper port area with those dimensions and get a tuning that low with slot port

So far so good, had a good time with this build - clean even cuts and no issues. Tomorrow I wood putty any abnormalities and then a stain.

34-36Hz is perfect for old school, that's all I listen to. As for that jank *** 5ply you need to hit up a Menards for the 11ply stuff next time, MUCH stronger....

This is 3/4 birch , never questioned the amount of plys. Got it at Home Depot and it was kinda of pricey at 50$. Anyhow, too late now, if it sounds like total crap we might have to make changes. Today I painted , I still need to paint the port. I used a paint that was supposed to provide a hammered metallic brown , it's garbage , kind of regret it but I'm in looking back at this point. Looking into getting a sundown decal made to cover most of the box so that the crappy paint isn't so obvious. So check it out and I'll keep updating ...

I don't recommend this paint very inconsistent spray pattern . This is supposed to provide a rough, old metallic look to it as seen on the cap but could not do it consistently. I got brown mist with no pattern then at times I'd get that rough pattern finely and other times coarse, just not a good product over a large surface , probably ok on a small table lamp or something.

The picture above was my first coat I did 3 coats, it's better but not perfect . Live and learn .....

I finally got around to painting the port , not too bad. Next step is dropping the subs in and getting it in the van. We're having good weather so hopefully this week - I'll keep y'all posted .
