Anyone done an install on Acura CL-S?

My concern is that the mids on the 6.5" Type X comps I have won't fit in the doors. The mounting depth is appx. 2.75". I read on another forum that metal would have to be cut to install them. Can anyone confirm this? Would I be better off getting 5 1/4" mids?

Recommendations, please. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

well go take a measuring stick to it.... if you only need to gain .75" of clearance, you can mount the speakers on a MDF baffle, which you should do anyways

dont forget to roll down the window when measuing

Okay, so far two replies and two opinions that don't really answer the question. To clarify, the thread title says has anyone done an install on the Acura CL-S?

I am looking for knowledge from someone who has, so that way when I take it to get it installed, I'll know what to expect and to verify that it can be done.

If you're going to have it installed just call or visit a few local install shops and see what they say. You'll have your answer in seconds...

And nothing wrong with cutting out a little sheet metal to make the opening bigger "if" that needs to be done.

That's quite helpful; thanks for the heads-up. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fro.gif.c695f1f814b01c4ad99fe7f8cccadd29.gif

Well why would you ask if you're not going to do the install? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif If you're paying someone let them worry about it...

Because it's my car so I'm worried about it!
Why would I go get it installed without knowing first whether it can be installed? I'm doing my homework first. / Story.
If you're worried then leave it stock. Otherwise as I mentioned before, stop by a few shops and see what they say. Just because someone on here says it can be done, doesn't mean your local shop can do it.

Your way is like doing math homework for english class //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif Quit making this harder than it needs to be //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gif
