Well, if you jumped before they did you are fvcked. Unless YOU were threatened or they were on your property and being a threat you are fvcked.

I have a family member that is a Sherriff and in the country you get it every so often. Someone breaking in your house at 3 in morning you can defend yourself. But if someone is stealing your lawn mower and no weapon you can not use deadly force. The lawhas many loop holes and such.

All in all, seems like you leaped before they did and Johnny Cochran couldn't get you out of it.

You're actually supposed to try and get out of the situation not escalate it by staying. You should have run away. If you have a chance to get out of the situation and you don't and then you chose to shoot someone then you may be charged and possibly convicted of murder or manslaughter. You should have ran and avoided it all. You were probably trying to be "tough" and stayed. Now you see how that paid off.
