The Wistles Go WOOOOOO!
ok... this is my 1st ported box and ive been trying forever to figure out construction. i started designs with win isd and was having some trouble.. and then all of a sudden its liek everything fell toegther. the problem is, it never just falls together. i know somethings wrong. you guys are quick with this stuff please just take a few secs to help me out.

did the sketch in paint.. sorry if thats a pain i can use another program i guess...

wanted the box 40 inches wide. no more than 16 high. depth can be played with a little.. but id liek it under 23. you shoudl be fine with these measurements to make the box right.

i was shooting for internal NET vol. of 5 cubes. subs have 302 total cub. in. of displacement (kicker L7 12s)

was going for 32-33 hz.

if its really necessary ill send a small amount to anybody who makes absolutely certain the box dimensions are correct / corrected. just give me an address ill mail you like 5 bucks. but i would appreciate if one of you would just help me out. im sure you guys know me by now around the forum.

if that link doesnt work...

well

i calculated this someone else can redo it though

yea i know its 16.5' high //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

i did it b4 i read the post, lol

But just remember to take off an extra .75" if your using 3/4 width wood.

If you put the front and back on the inside take .75" off for them.

if you put the sides on the inside take .75" off fromt them and the height of the port so it fits as well.

Thats tuned to 7cu minus sub displacement and port displacement...

we dont accept money on this thread:laugh:...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

edit make that port length, 16.11 not 18.11

what port area are you shooting for? post that and i can help you.

well i think that one was around 70 cu in. id liek over 50.. but dont need more than liek 75 or 80.. a little port noise can be tolerated as my car sounds like its falling apart with any subs in the back. hatch glass rattles, roof flexes, etc, so some noise prolly wont even be heard. haha.

id just like a design with the port on the left liek i have.. and less than 23 deep. and less than 16 high if possible.

to the guy who submitted a pic.. i really appreciated the effort.. sorry to say its just a hair on the big side.. id like not not be able to see the box in the rear view mirror and the seats like 60 in. tall. whats the tuning on that box? 33? and you said its liek 7 cubes gorss? whats the port area? i might be able to live with that design if bcarpenterfhl cant help me out.

i appreciate the help guys... keep it comin.

mostly im not sure i made correct calculations with volume and port length. i think i really messed up when i bent the port since im confused about the whole add subtract average half port width in corners thing.

ill tell ya what.. the one who submits the best design will get 5 bucks in the mail. hey its not much but if its incentive to do some math for me then at least im trying to make it worth your time.

for anyone just coming in and not wanting to read the whole thread...

would like 5(or 5 1/2) cubes net volume.

box will be 3/4 MDF

would like it to be 40 in wide and 14-16 in high... depth is up to you but no more than 23 in.

want over 50 sq. in. port area (the more the better but doesnt have to be excessive)

subs are kicker L7s.. 151 cub. in. per basket

want 32-33 hz tuning. 34 will be ok too i suppose

hey man from the looks of your pic it looks like your trying to put 2 subs in the same chamber. You should probaly make 2 seperate boxes fopr the subs, you can connect them so it looks like the same box in the end but it should be 2 serperate chambers.

no, as long as its structurally sound, it doesnt matter. ignore that post, unless he can give a valid and logical reason otherwise...
