There's no reason a higher output alternator should be a problem for your car. Hawaiians being afraid of H.O. alts is a new one on me. lol

Try Ohio Generator if you are scared of low quality... they have been around for ever and I've talked to them a few times on the phone, they really seem to know their stuff. They're pricey, ... they're not flashy... but they're solid. Ive been totally ruthless to my alternator for over a year now with absolutely no problems. They also shipped mine in less time than I was quoted, which is a refreshing change in the audio industry.

I have an 00 Grand Am and a 200A Alt from Excessive Amperage. So far, so good. Running 4 Sundown 1500ds off that and 3 Optima g34s.

I would love to upgrade my alt but the cost is way to prohibative, I got a quote recently for a 190 amp and it was **** near 700 shipped.......mind you i have a stock 130 already.......what a joke.

I didn't pay that much for a 400A Dual alt setup with the brackets.
