The Wistles Go WOOOOOO!
Im thinking about getting a bike in the next year or so. I was wondering what everybody here has, and what they do or dont like about their bike.

I dont really know what i would get, thats kinda the point of this thread. I would be looking into a crotch rocket before anything else most likely. I think a 600 would be nice, but some people say to just start with a bigger bike.

i dont really have a budget either but im sure i would look for something used, not more than 5 years old or so, and im hoping to find something between under 10 grand. throw out any comments you have pertaining to the subject. just trying to get some input and i dotn knwo any motorcycle forums

I had a ninja a few months back, I sold it for $1400. Once I get my job, Im getting the new hayabusa:up2somet: I tested one about a month back, they are unbelievably fast, but they dont handle as well as you would like for going 230 mph. we'll just see I guess.

i just sold my R6 this year //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif and for the love of God, DON'T GET A LITER BIKE as your first bike. and before you say it (even if you haven't) i don't care if you have ridden dirt bikes. get a smaller bike (ninja 500 or GS500 if you need a sport bike) and learn how to ride first. then go ahead and get a big boy after you get some miles under your belt. your head and your wallet will thank me. you're welcome.

How much riding experience do you have? Have you even ridden before? Today's 600's are nothing to mess with. They've the powerband of older 1000's and anyone who regards that as weak or slow will quickly find themselves on their ass.

If you have no riding experience, I would suggest buying a junker that runs and just getting it to run. That way if god forbid you do drop it, you didnt drop an $8k investment. And please, please, please, take some Motorcycle Safety Foundations. They are by far the most instructional and valuable tools to the new rider. IMO, if you want to ride, you should take these courses.

If you've a little experiece, step up to a Honda F4i. There reliable, nimble and will give you most the same riding characteristics as their more aggressive 600cc counterparts. Again, take some advanced MSF courses maybe attend a few track days to open it up...

I would NEVER suggest jumping onto a 1000cc even if you a have alittle experience. You need years expereience IMO to tame the new Litre bikes.

Thats what I would suggest and its actually what I did. Started on a GS500 POS that I rebuilt with a friend. Rode the piss out of it and bought another crapy GSXR600 that I rode till it died. Then bought my current pasta rocket...an MV Agusta.

Finally, invest in some good equipment. Dont skimp on anything. Get a think leather jacket and think jean, maybe leather pants too. Reinforced gloves and a solid Helmet. When you go down, and notice I said when cause you will, you need to be protected...

...Just my .02

and used, something between under 10 grand covers just about any bike. you can get them for less //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Ive ridden 300cc alcohol burning race 4-wheelers. Flipped more 4-wheelers than most have ridden...ridden my friends alcohol burning YZ-125. Hopped my happy ass on a friend's 500 I almost lost it.

Experence FTW.

You can find 200cc on/off dirtbikes for $900/2000 running. I got lucky and got one for $700, still needs work before I street it. Yamaha XT225 Serow //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

IMO, before you even LOOK for a ****in bike, buy a helmet and some nice riding gloves. I downshifted too fast on some damp grass and wiped real good at less than 10mph, cut the **** out of my hand on the handlebar and smacked my head on the ground. If that can hurt bad... imagine what real speed on hard pavement can do to you.

Exactly, I downed my GS into oncoming traffic and couldnt slide out cause my leg was pinned. A plastic piece in my femar and a life-long pin in my knee remind me of that everyday.

A friend of mine dropped his R6 while just sitting on it in his drive way and landed on his hand wrong...20 surgeries later, he still doesnt have full function. **** Happens, be prepared.
