Ive ridden 300cc alcohol burning race 4-wheelers. Flipped more 4-wheelers than most have ridden...ridden my friends alcohol burning YZ-125. Hopped my happy *** on a friend's 500 I almost lost it.

IMO, before you even LOOK for a ****in bike, buy a helmet and some nice riding gloves. I downshifted too fast on some damp grass and wiped real good at less than 10mph, cut the shit out of my hand on the handlebar and smacked my head on the ground. If that can hurt bad... imagine what real speed on hard pavement can do to you.

Exactly, I downed my GS into oncoming traffic and couldnt slide out cause my leg was pinned. A plastic piece in my femar and a life-long pin in my knee remind me of that everyday.

A friend of mine dropped his R6 while just sitting on it in his drive way and landed on his hand wrong...20 surgeries later, he still doesnt have full function. Shit Happens, be prepared.

Worst thing for me with motorcycles, had a Honda CB750 4 banger. Was getting it to run, right?

Okay, i had it firing, but only on one cylinder. I had been adjusting the carbs and it would fire on different cylinders. Finaly I think it ran good on two. I was testing which cylinders were firing by touching the pipes with my fingers.

That one's not. This ones not. Eh, this one a little bit!!! Last one I basically grabbed like a tennis racket and it was DAM hot. to the op, you can get a new bike for under 10 grand, you should be able to find a nice newer used one for 5-6k

Well as some have said, you could eaisly find a used good bike for 5g's. I had one back in the day. Honda Hurricane 1100 and I loved it for a few months, then wrecked it. Good luck on your choice. I recommend a ninja 500 or something heavier and slower. I wish I had 10g's to spend. I could use it right about now.

I got a 2002 CBR 954 as my first bike and downed it. I still ride it pretty much every day. Now matter what bike you get you will put it down, there are only two types of riders, those that have been down and those that havent been down yet. Just be carefull and get some gear. Take MSF and take it easy. Its not as dangerous untill you start to get a lot of confidence on them and try stupid shit.
