Anybody ever get Maaco paint job?

i paint cars sometimes and it cost me in materials $300-400 for primer/reducer,paint/reducer,clear/hardener to do a urathane paint job. i use dupont but i buy thru a paint distributor.

after painting urself u can pick apart a factory paint job.

take it to a real body shop. these paint shops are ment for a summer paint job on a getto cruzer...

Well Im not looking to spend that much on it. it is a car that doesn't get driven much and more just to get rid of its current ugly state. who knows maybe I will try to spray can it lol

I had my car painted twice once by a "Pro" body shop(highly recommended by people around here) and once by Maaco. Honestly the body shop were *** and the paint lasted for a year and they didn't want to hear anything about it after the year was up. Then I took it to Maaco for a quick fix. The paint was better than factory after a year of highway abuse(70+ behind big trucks and Dump trucks) they fixed rock chips for free. And this was with the mid grade paint pack. The guy at the shop told me to get the mid grade and then payed like 75 bucks xtra for a few shots of extra clear and it has been great since. Just when you get the car back check it over REALLY good before you accept it back.

Now this is a simple color job I don't know what your looking for but if you are looking for multi color and designs or what ever I might shop around but for a simple paint I had good luck. Maybe I got lucky(Unlikely if you knew me) Or maybe just the shop here in Faytown but this was my experience.

I paid about 1200 to have my chevy completely restored and painted from under the hood and door jams, to the bed and frame rails. It has 3 coats of clear on it and its been almost 3 years now and it still looks as good as the day I had the paint job done.. Just dont go there acting like you dont know what your talking about cuz they will either charge you out the *** or do a shit job.. You really need to just watch them. Some Macco shops have crooked guys working there.

Just go there and tell them what you want done.

Dont have a pic of my Chevy but I also had my comp truck painted there for $350 and I think it looks good for $350 IMO. Also I told them I wanted it done with PPG paints and a single stage color with one coat of clear.

Also had blue metal flake mixed in and it looks pretty good.. One way it looks pearl white and the other way it looks almost a satin white.

As title says. How was it honestly for a cheap job. Also what type of car was it and how much did it cost, also which paint job. Looking more into their mid level ones. Thanks for any info
I had one done on a mid sized Ford once. Color was white, and the cost was $399.

I was happy with it for the cost.

Once, 25 yrs ago. I had a '67 Mustang. Original paint was cracking. Deal was supposed to be to sand it smooth, repaint yellow with black racing stripes. While they had the car one of the jackasses started it in gear (auto, no safety mechanisms in '67) and ran into another car. They tried to half-*** straighten the front valance.

I showed up one day to check on the progress, saw a guy in the shop painting the stripes with an aerosol can. I approached the manager, raised hell and demanded they replace the valance and redo the paint the right way.

Finally got the call that the car was ready. Went to pick it up, same valance, old cracked paint lines visible through the new paint, the turn signal lenses that were in the hood insets had been painted over, overspray everywhere and the racing stripes were two different widths and not at all centered.

I asked the manager for my keys and how he really expected me to pay for such a joke. He called the police, who promptly informed him that he couldn't hold my property, rather he'd have to take out a civil suit against me. I left and never heard anymore about it, nor did I ever entertain the thought of Maaco again, since they don't do paint jobs, at least here.

They didn't tell him that since you sign a release for them to do the work. They hold a mechanics lien at that time. They hold the right to the car until the services are paid for. YOU would have to file the civil suit to recieve your money back. This story seems fishy.

like in all things you get what you pay for. You can have a car painted for 200 dollars or 20000 dollars how nice do you want? painting is a lot to do with the prep work, but finish work is a HUGE part as well.
