Thats right bishes...
I was just screwing around on ebay and came across a few listings like this one..

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&Item=160194859443&Category=15841&_trksid=p3907.m31

i mean, would i sell my current house and move out there? No, but eventually (read in 20-30 years) that land may be worht a pretty penny. I was just thinking about spending a few grand a year and buying up cheap property and kinda forgetting about it for awhile until i could sell for a large profit, etc. Anybody do this type of thing? Doubt it on here, but sounds like it would be cool. I mean, if nothing else i could take a vacation and camp out there., lol

Meh all depends on where you buy, my dad bought a house and like 3-4 acres in one of these small towns around kansas, lived there 20 yrs put a bunch of money in it, and sold it for exactly what he paid for it 20 yrs prior.

But for the most part land is a good investment.

its 1.125 acres in paved road access, thats not much land enough for a house and a decen yard. I dont know what buildable land goes for around there but it seems kinda high, unless it already has power, or well.

Where is it? No ebay at work.

If it had road access and cheap taxes, it might be a good hunting / cabin kinda place.

Texas, its 11 hours from where i am now. They say there are no ***. dues and 40 dollars a year in taxes. Could be more though.

Ya i figure now would be a great time to buy with the market how it is, and to keep for a long term investment. This one just caught my eye since its right on the road and right outside a city. Also its in a planned subdivision.

What? My house now sits on 3/4 acre and is a pretty big fckin yard.

Oh...it's that. I was thinking Ozark swampland. I wouldn't make a home purchase until the 4th quarter unless it was a steal. As the credit crisis sweeps, lenders will get tight and prices will fall some...

I agree, but it may be even longer than the 4th Q before its over.

Yup..

We bought a 120 acres in a nearby county where we hunt a lot a few years ago because it was so cheap. We have sold 20 acres that had road frontage and have made back almost half of what we paid. That leaves us with 100 acres we are about to list.

Also just bought 180 acres an hour away this summer. They just harvested all the timber this spring. We have already planted 7-8 acres of food plots for wildlife and had a dozer to clear a lane along the border of our property. We are going to hire mexicans to replant the land in pines this summer. We can make close to $80,000 if we sell the land a year or two after we plant it. More than likely we are going to keep it for the hunting and try to manage it and then harvest the timber 18-20 years from now.

Very profitable venture if you are patient.

my grandparents bought up a bunch of land post wwII in ohio... started selling it off a few years back, some of it went to a interstate exit type deal, they have cell towers that pay a few g's a month on some of the others, and they recently sold a a little over 500 acres for subdivision development... long story short... each one of their kids (my father included) gets > 5 mil when they go
