Any weightlifters?

That's kick *** that you had a good lifting program in school imready77. I didn't, and that's partially why my shoulders are jacked. My ego didn't help any. For people who want to gain weight you have to eat at least 1-1.5 grams of protein per kilo/pound of body weight. You have to eat good. I think the eating 6 times a day that much protein is harder than working out! Something that people don't do is compound movements. (squats, deadlift, etc.) These lifts help you to build muscle everywhere, like a foundation. You have to be careful though, if you do those types of lifs with bad form you WILL get injured.

That's awesome. How long have you been injured and what was your injury?
I snapped my ACL and MCL and tore my miniscus in my left knee from a soccer collision with two other players, it was really twisted up when I finally landed and came to a stop on the truff

I am not allowed to play till July, the surgery was last day of January, the injury was second week of December, so I had to wait 6 weeks and walk around on bone to bone contact until my surgeon had an opening //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

but I am so happy to be able togo back

That sucks! You tore all that? What was your knee like the first week? I'm just curious because the docs are telling me that I may have jacked my MCL. I have an MRI on Saturday, but I just want to know what I'm up against. I did it on Sunday and it doesn't hurt too much now except if I try to walk on it. The day it happened I tried to stand on it and I felt it slip on itself. Gross. What was your injury like at first?

omg ACLs are bad to rip. Worst things ever. Besides your if you cut ur (Spelling) Aciliese Tendon. You cant really even hobble on the leg. Thank god only injury Ive done was in football Trying to break someones facemask, Instead I almost broke my hand. It was all good. For some reason I can always break my own facemask but nobody elses.

well your lucky, in many cases the MCL can heal on its own, but the ACL cannot,

my knee had a weird feeling, like it was a steady sting, that was the sign that I knew it was not something that was going to fix it self, the MCL will need time to heal, but you might be lucky and not need surgery :thumbsup

Have you ever had a Stinger? Was it like that? Stingers **** ***. I had one in my Left arm Couldnt move it the wrong way without pain. Luckily went away in couple of days. Got it right in the Joint of my shoulder n left arm by a **** facemask(faskmasks again). Spearing sux unless i do it to someone else.

Let me know how it goes lifting weights with your legs. I'm curious to see if down the road you can lift heavy. I've got shoulder problems that are weak point in lifting. I'm pretty sure I'd need surgery to fix my shoulder, I'm just afraid it will be worse than it already is and I don't want to have to wait months before I can lift and then have to build back all the strength that I would lose during the healing process. Also I'm afraid that after surgery it may function well but may be a weak point and lifting may reinjure it causing the need for another surgery like those pitchers in baseball that get the shoulder surgery and then 1yr later need another surgery to tighten it back up.

Thats good to hear about the mcl. I've had stingers and dislocated shoulders, and the knee thing was by far the most awful feeling yet. It felt like when you're tearing a chicken leg off the bird and it's only being held together by the skin. Nasty, and my thing was always speed so I really scared.

used to lift (back when i was in higschool) - worked out at my house.

max bench 300lbs

squat - did reps with 300

deadlift - same as squat

just started back up again, got another weight set, this time a 390lbs weight set, but im already bending the bar (thats what i get for getting the el-cheap olympic bar lol)

We just finished power lifting at my high school about a month and a half ago.

Max bench -- 300lbs

Squat -- 500

Dead Lift -- 520 my junior year...highest i got this year was 510

I went to regionals both my junior year and this year and i shoulda went to state this year but i got cheated and bombed out in squat...(well at least thats what im telling yall)

Dont get burgers... burgers are bad for you. If you really want to gain weight, eat protein and protein. Get a whole chicken and get a whole chicken for dinner one night. Eat alot of protein. Steak, chicken, anything that has protein will make u gain weight. Eat peanut butter and jelly sandwichs right before u go to bed. The Peanut Butter sandwich should make u gain alot of weight as it just sticks to u. Cut fastfood out alot..... eat deli sandwichs with double meat and the works. Trust me if u want to gain weight u can.

For anybody wanting to gain weight, eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches at night really does work. Our trainer suggested this to some of the smaller/skinnier kids on our team...

Ah...why were on lifting, there is this girl at my school who is a good 240lbs and about 5'7...anyway she benches 230lbs., squats 430lbs., and deadlifted 350lbs.

No bullshit...shes pretty **** strong for a female.

well, I have been doing leg lifting and excercises for about 2 months now in PT and it is progressing along fine, I am some what ahead of schedule, but genetics helps some, but as every doctor and therapist says dont rush it, thats the main thing, it takes time, with my surgery, I was told everything will not be fully healed for almost 7 years, but I will be about 85% in about a year after the surgery

good luck //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
