Any weightlifters?

Dude, that's sick weight gain! I can't gain weight to save my life, but I don't lose it either. In my prime (about 5 years ago) I weighed 185 and I'm 5'8. I was benching 310 for 1RM and 225 for 14. I could squat 415 for 1RM and 315 for 8-10 depending on how I felt that day. Man what I wouldn't give to get back there. Chicks will make you lazy ( I'm married now) and make sure you do exercises that compliment each other. For instance if you bench alot, make sure you do back too. I made the mistake in HS of never doing back and now I can't do bench anymore because my shoulders are screwed. To make matters worse, I think I may have blown up my MCL on sunday. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/verymad.gif.3f39c5c2fd57527b671fad3efdfac756.gif If you stretch alot before during and after the workouts, you can alleviate some of the tightening of your muscles too. Good luck getting in that magazine eardrummin. :thumbsupw
I was all fat before I got into high school and since I played for one of the top five greatest high school football programs in the US we did college style stuff. Our coaches took lifting weights very seriously, alot of our strength and conditioning things came from Ohio State so we got big fast and alot of us got back problems from it (even the little guys). One dude on our team was 200lb benched 300lb and squated about 450lb and another guy was 150lb and he benched 250lb. I was the strongest on the team with a 380lb bench max and a I squatted 415lb 9 times (could have done more but my goal was 8). Look up the Canton McKinley Bulldog if you haven't heard of us.

i can bench 160lbs 3 sets of 8 i weigh 165lbs im and im 15

That's good, the average person can't bench their weight, i'm not sure what percentage of body weight the avg person can do. i didn't start until i was 17 due to fears of stumping my growth. don't know if that rumor is true but i didn't want to take a chance.

I cant even bench my own weight. Sux ***. I can rep like 195 7 times. But some how can bench over 245 yet. Im on my way. Protien helps Tastes nasty at first then you like it. My squats were im big at. After 2 months lifting straight ive gained alot. Hopefully wont stop b/c ill be strong as hell for football.

And by the way. I do get bored in the weight room and do alotta reps sometimes. Ill do Curles to Tighten my arms. And after i work out ill do Close grip with just the bar to loosen my triceps up from bench.

Been working out off and on for the past 12 years.

I couldn't gain weight in high school at all. When you get into your 20's, you start to fill out. Usually.

o man i feel like a p*ssy.lol. im 17, 127 pounds, and about 5'6"-7". i bench 195 on a good day i workout everyother day. but i CANNOT seem to gain ne wieght. Can some 1 plz tell me something or maybe some workout routine that can help add a couple pounds. ive started to eat burgers and pasta and alot of good 4 in. thick meat sandwiches. while still keepin up a strong 2-3 hour workout everyother day and yet no wieght gain?

I dunno whats up with you guys and **** protein and muscle enhancements lol. I use to work out alot sophmore and junior year of HS. My sophmore year i took weight training mid term, never touched a weight in my life. At the start i could only bench 145, which is sad, as i was about 180 then. At the end of the term, i was benching 245, squat about 285. I went up a 100 pounds in 18weeks, with not one supplement or anything that would have helped. I just went on pure muscle. Gaining 100pounds on bench from pure muscle is insane. Tons of my football friends used supplements, and it barely helped. After sophmore year i stopped lifting until the next yr mid term again. This time i had a little muslce left over from the year before so i was about to get 1800 up with a little struggle. After 18 weeks.... i was about to hit 285 on bench and squat 385. Again no supplements. I guess supplements work for some people and dont for others, but i believe if u put the time in, and work ur butt off, u'll be able to bench whatever u want. That same year that i hit 285 me and my lifting partner did a little contest, we bench 180 pounds 160times, in a whole class period. We did it in sets of 20s..... It was crazy. Then the next day i did it all over again with another person, but man that day it hurt to life lol.

Its all about the time and effort u put into things.

Dont get burgers... burgers are bad for you. If you really want to gain weight, eat protein and protein. Get a whole chicken and get a whole chicken for dinner one night. Eat alot of protein. Steak, chicken, anything that has protein will make u gain weight. Eat peanut butter and jelly sandwichs right before u go to bed. The Peanut Butter sandwich should make u gain alot of weight as it just sticks to u. Cut fastfood out alot..... eat deli sandwichs with double meat and the works. Trust me if u want to gain weight u can.

Oh yea if u dont have one get a girlfriend... you'll end up eating out alot, which will make u gain weight. IVe been with my gf for 2years and ive put on alot of weight.... i need to get into the gym but im either to busy, to tired, or to lazy,

Lifting is great to release stress. My dad got diagnosed with cancer like Last Novemeber. He was unbearable after chemo. Id go work out 3 hours a day, Just for the hell of it. Protien is Good for you btw. It helps build muscle its like eating 5 steaks in one serving. I normally dont eat in the mournings, But i drink protien shakes. Also after I work out.

If its true that you fill out in your 20s. Im gunna be **** big hopefully.

There's a problem with your way of getting strong. It takes time. Also usually when you're a beginner lifter you see drastic results quickly and then you stop. If you continued at this strength gain rate all I can say is you have good genetics for strength.

When it's hard for someone to put on weight like me (miss a meal and lose 3-5 pounds) and you have a busy schedule you don't have time to eat large meals. When I was lifting I was eating 5-6 meals a day. Now I didn't have enough time to eat this many meals so I used a meal replacement protein drink. The other advantage to the protein drinks is they are healthy. If you get a good one, you will get an amazing meal that would be hard to top with real food. But even when I was eating 5-6 meals I wasn't putting on weight and was stuck at 185 pounds. Once my back heals and I get back into lifting I'm going to attempt eating 6-7 meals a day and see if this does anything for me.

Also protein supplements and amino acids don't make you stronger when lifting, they feed your muscles so that muscle recovery is increased and so that muscle isn't burned for energy due to lack of proper nutrition. So yes for those that don't have time to cook 6 meals a day, it does help them in lifting afterall if they weren't taking the meal replacement drinks their body would be underfed which hurts your strength because your body will burn muscle.
