Any reason not to buy an Eclipse CD7000 besides the ugly knob?

So what do you guys think about the Eclipse CD7000 I am getting it for really cheap brand new through my trusty connects at circuit city. I have searched about it and read about it the only bad thing I heard about it is the ugly *** knob it has.

Can anyone else think of any other reason not to buy this?

Also, when I do get it how hard is it to install it? Considering it has alot of different features will I need to connect anything different?

I have never dealt with the install of a HU, my car came with a HU and I never needed to install any but my current one just died out on me. Is it just plug in the aftermarket wire harness and RCA's and go?

Nothing major, the only peeve I have is the fact that some of the accesories (the GPS and Ipod) use some pretty massive stuff so its a tight fit in some dashes. Mine is OK, but I would probably get the CD5000 next time.

This is true, but the ipod box and the sirius boxes both come with pretty long cables, I have both units under the passenger seat.

to the main poster you will love this deck. eh I kinda with the knob wasn't so chrome-y, I would have preferred a brushed metal finished but-oh well. Just to give you an idea of my journey to this deck: (and i'm gonna seem like a fool to most people)

August 05- Kenwood excelon 589 (returned to poor text screen w/ ipod)

August 05- Kenwwod excelon 889

October 05-Alpine 9855 (nice I actually kept it for a few months)

April 06- Eclipse8455 (really wanted the move to eclipse +more tweaking)

May 06- CD7000 (it still in my car and it ain't comin out till it dies)

anyway get it, read the manual, read it again, intall it, read the manual, start car, turn on A/C, cool down, start tweaking.

yea looks like it has a lot of features and its gonna be pretty hard to learn all of the functions.

its a sweet deck.. to bad it only has a 3 way crossover.
does he really need more?

I know I don't...mids, highs, bass, you can adjust the frequency and the slope....that about sums it up for me.

and the 7 band EQ is great too

I love mine, swapped out my Alpine CDA-9815 for it. I got used to the knob pretty quickly. Only complaints are...the face doesn't automatically close when you insert a disc, the face doesn't tilt, I don't think you can turn off the internal power when running everything off of the pre-amps, and you can't turn off the sub (I don't think). SQ is great with the deck though! I picked up mine brand new in box on eBay through "the12vkings" for ~$450 or so and haven't had any problems.

Install is typical of any other stereo.

Sweet, I thought you can control each of the 3 RCA outputs?

The knob is not nearly as big in person as it seems in photos. The auto-close on the CD would be nice but it's hardly worth complaining about. I've pinched ejected CDs in my 8443 enough times to understand why it doesn't auto close //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

some people might need/want a 4 way crossover.

jeeezus dude, why would you even hesitate on that???
Lol I don't know. It's not like that offer is gonna go anywhere. I have all the time in the world to research what i want, my car is going in for paint and wont be done till end of august.

If somebody really had a system complex enough for a 4 way active setup, I would think they would just run an outboard processor at that stage. Built in 3 way xover is pretty nice as it is, I wouldn't ask for more.
