Any good square subs? Or come back to round?

500RMS won't get you really loud no matter how much work you put into it, do some reasearch, you can get 1500+ RMS a lot cheaper than you think, probably for the same price you could sell that 500/1 at.

i know man.. i just want the loudest i can get with 500watts.. like i said when i get a new car i am getting more watts.. i got a 3dr hatch back right now and i want the loudest i can get with 500 but for the ******* thing to last..lol

maybe a stupid question but what square sub were u running? l3 l5 l7? i love my 15 L7 newer model havnt had a problem with it! maybe im just lucky!

doenst matter what model it is, they are all junk, I even own 2 l7s

they get loud, but I have seen far too many product failures, I would never run them

if you're planning on upgrading soon, I'd suggest picking up a sundown SA-12, it will sound good on 500 for now, and when you upgrade it will take 1000+ with ease.

well i see you mess with DC audio.. never heard of them. how are they??

they are nice as well ,as for the product failure 9/10 is user error not the sub

it was a l7.. from what i read its alot more common problem for the 8" & 10" but they all are under alot of stress with it being square.. be carefell

From what I have seen, 1/5 has been user error

most dc subs fail from being in too big of a box and someone trying to push them very hard ,

yea thats what i was thinking.. something that can take 500 but if i wanna upgrade have some room to play.. i'm looking into a 4dr car so i will have more room for another sub though but can't see myself running anything higher then 1500 watts if i upgrade.. more then likely ima run a 1000/1 jl audio (same model that i have in 500/1).. UNLESS you got a better amp.. i can get the 1000/1 for 140 used so there not really pricey in florida.

hm. my wifes L7 square does good, No i dont like kicker but she does and we have never had problem from it. shes had it 4 2yrs now on a kicker zx1000.1

it all depends what year and such and such.. i read reviews and i forget what year maybe 08 or 10 they made the subs pretty good and they dont have this problem.. mine is a '11 model..

my box is in spec, clean power from a jl. gains ant even that high.. maybe it didnt like being ported but it only had maybe 24hrs of play if that.. kinda sad..

Go with a bigger box to compensate for the low power and you'll get just as loud as the recommended box with more power. Hoffman's Iron Law if you need further explination.

if you do a compression box you can get very loud and low on very little power as well
