any chance you can tell me the tuning of this box?

i have a jl 13w3v3 on a jl 500/1

my brother has a kicker L5 15 on a jl 500/1

his system hits a wide range of notes, from higher highs to really lowwwww. definitely more pleased with his system as opposed to mine. im trying to see if someone here could possibly tell me the tuning of this box just by looking at it?

ive searched a few sites looking for a box with these dimensions and the closest one i found was one a little shorter in width and according to the site it said it was tuned at 37hz

Can't tell without knowing the length of the port.

You have to know the total port area inside the box, which the diagram doesn't tell you.

What exactly do you feel is lacking with your current box? Do you know what size and tuning it is?

ahhh i see, thanks. ill have to ask to take it out and measure the port.

its not that im unhappy with mine, its just that i'm more than happy with his. while we run the same amp, his is noticable louder, moves more air, hits more notes than i do, just overall in every aspect greater than mine.

i built mine the best i could to the recommended specs in the manual at 27 i believe

ok i took out his sub and was surprised when i saw his port just goes straight back like an "l" and doesnt curve at a 90 degree like an "L" like mine does. it goes straight back 14.5 inches from the surface like this

Is the box completely made out of 1.25" wood? I ask because of the height of 16.5" and the port height of 14.5" (although I doubt the whole box is 1.25", perhaps it just has an extra layer on top and bottom?). If this is true it looks like a 14.5" port will leave you near 44hz. If this is correct, I can see it being louder, however, I can't see it getting lower.

it appears to be tuned around 40-42 if it's made out of 3/4

the box is made out of roughly 3/4in wood. I'm guessing theres a top plate of wood with just a 14" slot cut out
