Whats the dif in all the widows? Theres not alot that I can actually read on them .. I was looking at the venom and nasty. Any impressions?I've got a hammer black widow pearl. Been using it for a while and it's a great ball, I can work it on a variety of lane conditions . Actually just bowled a 710 last night
the first 4 black widows had the same core, and basically same coverstock just different surfaces on them, but the new nasty has a whole new core and new coverstock, i was looking into buying that for nationals, but think i'm gonna go with a storm invasionWhats the dif in all the widows? Alot of ppl have been telling me to look away from the Hi end like a 3.5 , invasion , jigsaw etc, And to go with a mid level, such as a Nomad, riegn of fire, python, bedlam etc... I dunno why , maybe the house conditions arent oily enough for the higher end balls.. WHat do you think ?the first 4 black widows had the same core, and basically same coverstock just different surfaces on them, but the new nasty has a whole new core and new coverstock, i was looking into buying that for nationals, but think i'm gonna go with a storm invasion
your don't necessarily have to have your pap, it all really matters about pin placement, I have never had my pap measured. i have a venom, it did ok until there was carry down and then it couldn't handle it, just kept on skating through the back end with little pop, but that was for me, it might be different in your hands. The top weight doesn't matter either, the heavier it is then you will need a balance hole, i think my driller said anything over 2 oz will need a balance hole, thats just to make it legal. The invasion is going to be aggressive even at the house i bowl at, i'm just going to get it for nationals and then put it away for local tournaments, i took my virtual gravity to nationals last year and it didn't even want to move on that pattern and it hasn't even left out of the box in my room since, i don't know why but i don't like that ball at all, but playing straight up 10 with my magic proved to be better than trying to go around everyone and play deep with my vg. But if you want a ball that really handles the carry down well, i'm telling you storm hy-road, that is now my go to ball. Storm reign is also a good ball. But I do like the Venom BW... Its all gonna come down to what the pro shop can get me a good deal on since im gonna go through them THIS time because I dont know My PAP or what I would use for a top weight.. So I guess it does kind of make sense to get a mid level now, Get all my new PAP and top weight figured out then throw it and see how it goes.. If its not enough, I guess THEN ill jump up to the hi end.., That sound like a better idea than trying to throw an invasion on a house pattern after not being in the game for 4 yrs ? lol
i missed this post, anyways it all depends on the conditions, there are a couple people throwing the nomad pearl in my league, looks pretty good from what i have seen, also can't beat the cell pearl. There is one guy throwing a jigsaw but he doesn't have any hand so it does good for him. Also look at the hot sauce pearl. There are so many balls its hard to just pick one, hell i get about 2 a year.Alot of ppl have been telling me to look away from the Hi end like a 3.5 , invasion , jigsaw etc, And to go with a mid level, such as a Nomad, riegn of fire, python, bedlam etc... out of those just the hyroad, i play deeper with that ball where i'm at then any other ball in my bag, i have seen the reign of fire on paper, looks to be about the same as the reign just has surface on it, rouge cell looks good too haven't thrown it though. I agree it is a big decission, i got a green vibe last year thinking it will move on the dry lanes the house i was bowling at and it disappointed me, put it in the closet and just left it, and a couple of guys i bowl with have a freeze but they have A LOT of hand so take that for what its worth. Just go with a ball and stick with it...lol but you can't go wrong with that bw nasty, i might just buy one of those for the hell of it lol.good info here man, thank you!.. Ive heard alot about the hYroad but the specs make it look like it doesnt move much, but ppl really praise it.. And the Freeze as well.. But then again thats just paper.. I dunno I just dont want to be disappointed in the first ball i get in like 10 years.. but I suppose every ball has a purpose for every lane condition right, And if this ball sucks at my lanes, it might be great on another.. Im really looking at the reign of fire , which looks to have a little more potential than the Hyroad, the wild thing , and the rogue cell.. Played any of those?
the nasty is nice as hell.. BUT Im also seeing ALOT of rec's for the brunswick ( snake ) line lol I have no idea.. But have been told performance to price, the Rattler, Diamond back and Python , are among the best bang for the buck, with a better Arc and higher hook potential than the Hyroads.. where i buy my balls from they are around the same price point with they hy-road being 10 bucks more, the hy-road is more skid flippy to me which i like better but that is just my style, i have never thrown brunswick so i don't know, they hy-road accepts surface changes very well, atleast thats what i have seen around my league. Go with what you want, if you want to go with one of those go for it, if it don't work sell it for alittle less then what you paid and try something else.the nasty is nice as hell..
