another virus on ca.com?

Just for the record I did get this virus running Firefox 4...

EDIT:I also don't use this computer for anything else besides browsing this forum and checking my e-mail.

My porn stash is on my tower. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsupwink.gif.129404938effda6ad9cca39e7f4b58a3.gif

You can get viruses without using an internet browser at all. If your computer is hooked to an always-on internet connection (DSL, cable, etc) then its capable of getting a virus at any time the computer is running. Just an fyi.

Ive not heard of any problems with the site lately.

BTW, anyone have a link to the free version of MB? The only free versions I find only scan for free, but make you buy it before it will fix any problems.
Huh? I've never seen a version of MB that you have to pay for before it'll let you remove things, did you download it on their site?

Yep.

Malwarebytes Special Offer!

I just went to the site to try re-downloading it again, thinking maybe I downloaded the wrong version last time, but look what it says right above the free version download button: "If malware is found using the free one time download, your current anti-virus is not effective."

Am I just being stupid? lol Because it looks like MB is just like all those other 'free' virus scanners these days, free to scan and say you are infected, but costs money to have it actually fix anything.

Well, except it actually fixes stuff =P Unlike norton, avg, mcaffee, norton, panda, and any other "Antivirus" program lol

That's weird, I actually havn't had to download it off their site in a while, keep it on my flash drive and install and update, did a scan last night on a computer and it worked, but i cant remember if I registered for that one or not

Honestly the registered "paid for" version is actually pretty nice, blocks sites and IP that have been known spread viruses, havn't ever had it block a site i actually need, and will block processes if it sees a virus trying to activate //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Yeah I use to use MB, but somewhere along the way I had to redownload it on this machine and since then its prompted me to register/pay for it before it will fix the infections.

I've been browsing the internet (and downloading torrents) completely unprotected since I got my new laptop (like a month ago) which includes coming here all the time and I'm still clean...

Mark my words, you will regret it.

I dunno I mean with good practice and a good browser you can usually avoid getting viruses

And if you get one, they're easily removed nowadays IMO

at my house i only run MB on my desktop

...on the mac don't need anything //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

lol, you don't think it's bitten me in the past? Trust me, I don't really have any "important" documents and all of my "files" (porn) and music are stored on my laptop AND desktop so if one of them gets a bad virus I just wipe it and do a fresh install of win 7. I usually go a lot longer between reformats when I run an antivirus program but with the number of torrents and such that I download even with an antivirus I still manage to get viruses...

I'm pretty sure that's just giving you the full version for a brief period. When you go to malwarebytes.org, and click "Download Now", you are redirected to CNET: Malwarebytes Anti-Malware - Reviews and free Malwarebytes Anti-Malware downloads at Download.com

Download that.
